Gunslinger Boyer Build

I think the shocks are a fine length for the look you just need to get them to sit a little lower in their stroke at rest. Shocks perform 100x better on solid axle trucks with some serious droop on them. Find yourself a softer spring and get it to sit about an inch lower and your are set!

I agree with MO! I think the shocks look good you just need to droop them a little. Several different ways to go about it you just have to decide which way works good for you. The longer shock bodies resemble the long coil overs that the 1:1 Gunslinger runs. This is going to be a really nice piece I do believe!

Most definitely TurnMeOver!

I never understood why so many people seem to think the proper way to run their shocks involves them being extended near 100% at rest. No full size vehicle I can think of does that, especially Mt's. At normal ride height most sit at about half to 2/3rd droop. This allows a nice low ride height while still utilizing the full travel and damping of the long shocks when the truck jumps.

Get that bad boy sagged down to the ground and your in business.

Just so the point is not missed,
you can keep a long shock,
but just try to find a soft spring for that long shock, that lets it settle down.

Thanks for all the info with the shocks guys! Just got to find some softer springs to see if it will bring it down a bit.
Mounted a set of hot racing internal shocks 100mm, I like the height with the shocks but I like the look of the other ones way more. I'll try some different things.
Wade thanx for letting me know about the seat gotta check the measurements and if it will fit in there will probably order one.
Was looking at some pics of the real gunslinger truck and I'm trying to find out where the fuel cell will go. I looked at a couple pics of the truck but I cant tell where it is. I thought it would be in the front of the truck but from the pics it doesnt look like it. Anyone got some info on it?:rock

Awesome truck! I would trade in my ripper 1/8 frame to switch to a tube frame I have always liked them just couldnt afford one lol.
Mike is making me a set of knuckles now only in aluminum and cant wait to get those! Since I need the mounting holes of the stock gear case I cant use his gearcases tho but he might do up a stock one one day :tmb

Wow an appearance from the infamous Sprint 80..:shk
:laugh Hey Alan when you gonna come and race again? That truck needs some exercise......

Hey Preston, I got a set of super soft springs that I think will fit those dual stage shocks that you can have. Bring the truck or just the shocks down next week so we can see if they fit. Only catch is they were on my Digger so they're green nw!:tong

BTW truck looks great but I worry that it'll end up being shelf queen. Best to let Jay run it a couple times to break it in. You know he's not scared to GUN EM!!!:D

Thanx Kent, I'll bring the shocks down on Sunday. I will run the truck! Though I won't run it in outlaw, lol. I have all the electrics already just trying to figure everything out first. I've had this way to long and I need to get moving on it.:bang

Got a little more work done on the truck the past few days, also changed a few things.

I tried to make a fuel cell and a couple of batteries out of styrene and it came out ok. Never really made anything like that before so for me it came out ok. Fuel cell will hide the receiver for now.

Also put the floor in with some lexan that I had.
Put in the motor, it's from a muscle machines hot rod car. The parma engine was to big for the frame so I went with this one instead.

Waiting on a seat that Hermit was nice enough to make for me, due to the size of the cab nothing else was fitting. The 1/10 scale seat were hitting the top of the cab so that wasnt going to work.

Also changed the shocks to hot racing 100mm ones that I had with red springs. Got the ride height down to where I want it now I have to figure out what servo mount to use and where to hide the esc.

The last thing I did yesterday was paint the chrome rims that I had on the truck. Getting harder to find those white clod rims so I painted the ones I had white and put CPE planetary hubs on. Really like the look of it.

Hopefully can get a little more done this week after work, still waiting for a few things.
