The lockers are worth $20 for sure. They are really nice machined aluminum. I'll be looking for your thread!

so is there any downside to this kit? i have yet to see any complaints about anything on it which i find hard to believe since i have never owned a kit that was without annoying spots or downsides. things like parts that are had to get to without alot of dissasembly, things that wander around and dont like to stay seated. i really wanna see someone HAMMER on one to see what breaks and how it does break.

it looks to me like the links they have the potential to flop side to side because of the arch they have.

my computer goes down for 6 days and i miss this!
holy crap. I think you need to put the 14volts into this thing and just rip it on a track.

tier -The lower links will move side-to-side, because of the ball in the bottom of the shock. I don't think it's due to the arch in the link that makes it rotate. It only moves as much as the ball in the shock end moves. It's ok for a crawler to do this. For racing you might not want that?

One this that is hard to access is the battery straps. The zip ties might be easier but the velcro straps are hard to get to. With my big hands anyway.... Other than that no. Everything has been clearyly thought out and designed very well. Of course the diff access will require full disassembly.

I can tell you that this thing is way more heavy duty than any other clod stuff I've had. The only questionable part are the teeth on the diff which I will be testing rock crawling soon. Like Will G said, the parts GMADE makes are nicer than the trucks they go on. So expand that to the whole truck :)

rx78gp02 - 14.4V? Rip it up on a track? Nah, I won't be doing that. The tires look like they would kick butt in the dirt race. But I will probably only crawl with it. I've been wanting a crawler again and gmade intends this chassis for crawling only. As it is right now, the turning radius is huge. Because the wheelbase is more than 16" and I only have 2ws...

Hmmm...a possible downside that has nothing to do with the actual design of the kit, is that it might be a pain in the you-know-what to get spare parts.

Yeah that's sorta true. You can't get parts at Tower Hobbies. You have to order parts from Junfac, but I don't see that as a problem since anyone who has the truck order it from them... You know what I mean?

Still working on the second part of my review. I've ran one pack so far but not on the extreme terrain I wanted. I went to my old crawling spot and it's no good anymore. It's all overgrown with weeds and stuff... I'm looking for a new spot...

Can't wait to here if you have any trouble whilel rock crawling. I have been out of it for awhile and this seems to be the truck to bring me back. Please post any durablilty problems.

Yeah for sure. I'm taking it out this weekend. From what I've seen so far, the durability is there. I got the tires wedged so they couldn't move and I applied full throttle and the motors just stalled... no gears stripping or anything...

I'll have a full report with pics etc. this weekend...

I doubt I'll sell this truck. I ususally sell because I want something else but I've got all my bases covered now--electric touring car [tt-01], electric monster truck [clod], nitro monster truck (savage], and now this crawler. So basically I have all the vehicles I want except for a High Lift and maybe an electric Stampede.

C'mon, Kenny! Let's get that thrash test going :willy
I know dude! I took it to my old spot with charged batts and all but it was all overgrown with weeds :banghead So I've been keeping an eye out for another spot and haven't found one close so I'm going to have to take a drive to the foothills about an hour away where there are endless crawling spots!

nah you just need to give the truck a pep talk first: "you do not know fear, you do not know weeds!! go forth and crush them all!!!" :rof

either that or take a weedwhacker with you next time... :rof

OK I've ran 4 pack through it which was about 4 hrs of run time. I'm using 10t pinions and 4200mAh batts with stock Tamiya silver can motors.

Between runs I made a couple of changes. I switched to normal lock nuts. The big crhome ones that came with the wheels kept coming loose. I guess cuz the diffs are locked? I didn't have a problem on my other Clod... I also moved the inside tire bead in to give more tire sticking out on the outside so I wouldn't tear up the wheels.

Here is where I did the crawling, my usual spot. It's really brutal on the truck and tears the bottom all up but it's fun! Plus living in the city there isn't much areas with real rocks :ack

Overall - It did really well!!! I need to adjust the suspension a little. It's too stiff. I also need to get 4WS hooked up badly. One thing I might want to do is get Kong tires. The gaps at here are so massive Kongs would help me. I don't know... The stock tires grip well and are soft and work good. Kongs will fit right on these wheels though.

Durability - everything held up fine! I got the wheels jammed up several times where they couldn't spin and applying full throttle didn't do anything to the gears. I also jammed it from full speed reverse to full speed forward on pavement and there was no problems. It just did a little wheelie and took off. The gears were the only thing that I had a concern about becuase they were unproven AFAIK and they held up great.

Pics of crawling:

One of my favorite shots:

Will G this one would be good for the front page:

Wires were poking out of the cement too causing me trouble. Look at the neat reflection on the cement from the wheel!

Here you can see the tires are soft and conform well:

Here is the bottom after 4 battery packs. I told you the cement is rough on trucks! The edges really get ya!

Awesome, simply awesome. Worth the wait for this 2nd part of your review. Nice to know the whole truck held up well. Good vids too.
