Thanks for the compliments on the pics and review guys :)

It's almost a shame to take such a nice truck and beat it up on the rocks, but I'm gonna anyway! I have a feeling it's going to do very well. It was made for rock crawling and that's exactly what I'm gonna do with it!

Just got back from my weekend trip, and look what I find, a review of the Spider! :willy
VERY nice, kjr2. I am GREEN! One question, for 4WS, do you need a reversing Y adaptor?

Holy crap...that truck is amazing, both in the looks and performance categories. I can't get over it climbing that water heater like that!

Looks like there might be a fire sale of Clods and TXT's hitting the FS board. :p

Biker - Thanks! I don't know about the Y harness... That's a good question because I was going to order a non-reversing one... Now I need to find out! There is probably an obvious way to tell but I'm to dumb? The manual doesn'ts say...

Tiddler - It's really nice looking in person. And HUGE, compared to what I'm used to anyway :p The long wheelbase really helps it climb like that I think...

Kenny, Thanks for that pic! Yea, i know that their next chassis is coming out and will also come with the axles. However, I have an ECD-R tube chassis and a replica chassis that was built by Shunned that I would like to put these axles under. As of right now with the Hi Lift coming out and an HPI 5B in my near future I think my wife would all but hang me if I tried to add another full chassis or two as it would turn out to be. Acutally I wished I new I could get $300 for the chassis and tires cause then I would just pick up the kit and sell the unwanted parts off as a kit. Plus I don't think shelling out nearly a grand for two kits just get the axles would be very smart without having a clue as to what I could get for the chassis. Don't get me wrong these are some AWESOME pieces of craftsmanship! I just like what I already have.... I know I live in Colorado but I am not interested in crawling, kind of like living in California and not liking blondes.... I mean the beach! I just can't drive anything slow... ask my wife!

LOL

No problem on the pic ;) It seems like the High Lift is high on everyone's priority list... Mine too, just not at the top :p I have one on my Tower Hobbies Wish List...

You've gone and done it again Kenny :drool :drool :drool !!!!!!! Awesome truck and review :kudo . Those vids were cool, you can definitely see the advantage of those angled (spider) legs. Junfac really did some homework on this chassis. Maybe the Christmas wish list, here's hoping :p .

Thanks dude! I'm so stoked to go crawling this weekend.

I drove it for a while more the other evening and it had this odd thing where the motors would glitch a lot or simply cut out and not move at all. I noticed one of the motors (which are both brand new) was suspiciously loud so I took them out and water dipped them (first time ever doing that or even breaking in a motor) and that seemed to fix it. They are both quite and smooth now.

Anyway, I was driving for like 15 more minutes of crawling at very low speed and noticed my ESC was very hot which I did not like SO, I reduced to 10t pinions and added a fan for the ESC. It looks really trick IMO. I'll get pics tomorrow or the next day. I used a brace from a TLT or somthing to mount the fan over the ESC and then put an LRP sticker on the fan so it looks cooler :p

Well, mine just showed up! This thing is trick! Much nicer than a couple stamped pieces of metal.

I didn't get the dif lockers with the truck so I ordered them last night. I wish I had known about them when I orderd the truck. Overall everything looks very well made and extremely beefy!

I'll post some pics as I go.

BEEFY is the word!!! Isn't that chassis the sickest piece of RC aluminum you've seen!!?!?!!

One tip I have for you -- when you put the gears in the axle halves, and go to screw them together, they need to "snap" together. You will hear a clack or snap sound when they seat together fully. If not, they will not seem to fit properly and the gears will be loud.

Start a build up thread for your truck too! Or even BETTER do a review thread like this one! I left out lots of stuff like how neat the motor mounts are, and didn't do any side by side shots of the gmade parts next to tamiya parts. That's what I wish I would have done. Like compare the C hubs and see if they are interchangable, compare the wheel axles, drive axles, weight for the assembled axles compared to clod etc... If you don't that kind of stuff I still might...

How much were the lockers? I can't find them on the web site anywhere....

That is insane!

Hey are you Twinset on RCC?

I have a pic of a magazine called Donks!

hahahaha or kekekekeke

No Twinset is some other guy. He is a member here too but never posts here. Like I am a member at rccrawler but never post there. I have like 40 posts there in 3 years and I am a posting machine here.

I saw that he has a Spider too. He has built his yet though... He just posted some axle pics and stuff.

Donks are everywhere man kekekeke! I was in Target looking at the die-cast cars and they had Donk cars :willy

what do you mean? He has the same kit (the Spider) but his pics are not assembled yet...

Hey kjr2,

Have you noticed any stalling (what ever the clod axle do) problem with the Gmade axles?

Sorry I'm being lazy tonight and well I didn't re-read your review :roll

Looks good and if the Dragon makes it out before the High Lift it maybe my next purchase ;)

Nevermind, the shot angles are similar and the product is the same so without me doing a side by side comparison, they looked the same, but there lots of differences in the photos.

th67ss - yeah, rear stall is there just as much as with a Clod. It's the nature of the axle mounted motors. Gearing down reduces the severity but I've never had much of a problem with it anyway.

The Dragoon looks sweet alright! I think that may be a basher instead of a crawler (shorter wheelbase, less articulation). At least that's how it looks in that little pic ont he gmade site...

Zach - Oh I see. yeah we both took pics of the box, the box open, the chassis LOL It's packaged so well I had to take a pic I was so impressed... I might make my Spider Donk sytle in the future with Kong tires LOL

I would but I have never owned a Clod. I can make some compaisons to my TXT-1 though.

The lockers are $19 each. I didn't see them on the G-Made site. I found them on the Junfac site here http://www.junfac.com/option_spider_difflocker.htm

Thanks for the tips. I will be sure to start up a thread for everyone to see. Don't expect it to be as good as yours though. ;)
