Gear reduction/Gear pitch?

Hello I have a question on what the gear reduction is on one of these pullers (i.e. 96:1, 120:1, etc..), and also what pitch gears do you use. Any info or pictures would be most appreciated.

Hi,

I know someone else (like Chris, Jason or Terry) will chime in with the exact numbers, but the gear ratio differs between dirt and carpet and also somewhat between classes, so they'll probably ask you for more info. As far as I know all of the gears are 32 pitch.

Yes the norm is 32 pitch. Dirt pullers can range from 30 to 40 to 1. Carpet pullers can range from 80 to 200 to one. Several factors go into making the final number. Class, motor, tire size, tire compound, 2WD or 4WD.

Hope that helps.

K sorry for the lack of info I'm thinking 2wd sportsman class (the class that uses tlt or wild willy tires) and carpet or dirt.

2WD sportsman . . . . you must mean 2WD Pro-Mod class, as the 2WD Bar tire sportsman class uses Clod or USA rear tires.

Here are the Bar tire Sportsman specs
Weight - 10#
Motor Level - Econo Mod
Drive - 2WD
Length - 24"
Battery - 7-cells
Surface - Dirt or carpet

Here are the 2WD Pro-Mod specs (pic attached)
Weight - 10#
Motor Level - Modified
Drive - 2WD
Length - 19"
Battery - 7-cells
Surface -Dirt

Ok yeah 2wd pro-mod, sorry i'm new to this, so what would be the turn limit in this class?
Here is the NR/CTPA's definition of a Modified motor, the motor limit in the 2WD Pro-Mod Electric class..

Modified
: Are to be motors that are R/C motors. This level
motor may have an adjustable end bell. This level of
motors are allowed to have adjustable timing, modified
or cut brushes, and ball bearings. The commutator
is allowed to be machined. The output shaft is
allowed to be shortened and/or have a flat spot machined
in it. Drilling holes in the end-bells is allowed
in order to cool motor. Maximum diameter is
2 ? inches. Maximum length is 3 ? inches. The
Astroflight Pullmaster I and Pullmaster IV are allowed
in this level until further notice. Motors from
Stock, and Econo Mod are allowed. Brushless motors

are allowed at this level.

I hope this helps.

So I could use a Holmes Hobbies 7T Cobalt puller motor for this class? And also what tire do most of you guys run on the rear end.

There isn't a dollar ammount listed anymore. Should there be?
If there is a MSRP dollar limit, it is mentioned in the individual class motor rules. Ex: On 2WD Po-Mod, it's motor rules states:
Motor:
Maximum of one Modified Motor with a maximum MSRP

of $115.00. Must be a 540 motor can.

Thanks

YES, you link was clear enough. Sorry if I offened you, by posting the "open" description. I find that people are more in likely willing to read the item if it is open and posted and not where they need to go to another page to get their answer.

IMO . . . . . I guess it is from when I get a buyer's question from our Internet store or website, I don't just give them a link to where they can find the answer. If I had to look up the answer to give them a link, why not just copy and paste the answer they were looking for . . . . the buyer (or in this case builder) asked a question and wanted an answer not a link. Sorry again if I offened you or over stepped my bounds. :bang

Thanks

Even though the Modified motor description does not say " . . . no cobalt magnets . . . . " I do not think any class can run cobalt magnet motors.

Thanks

I just like to use the teach someone to fish attitude. There are always other questions that follow. Not offended, just sick and miserable at the moment. All is good.
