How do I get the fuse block thats under my dash off of the firewall? I need to wire in some accessories, and I just want to use the open fuse spots on there rather than doing inline fuses. Its on an 83 gmc S15 jimmy

most GM's have a couple screws, and a gasket
try the engine side if nothing on the inside

when you unscrew it carefull, the fuseblock acts like a plug and the other side may fall down on the other side of the firewall

Yours may be different however I'd check http://www.s10forum.com

I'll have to check that out. I messed with some things that looked like clips, but they didnt do anything. I'll try a screw driver up in those holes again, but I didnt feel anything so i assumed they were rivets. From the way it looks right now, and judging by some reference points I have on the firewall, I think that I would have to remove the drivers side fender well to get behind the fuse block. The only reason I am messing with this stuff is because a previous owner wired up a set of orange and mounted them on the core support. He took power pretty much right from the battery, ran it to a toggle switch inside, and then ran the wire to the lights, no fuse. Last night the insulation wore through and it shorted out and it killed my toggle and melted the insulation on the wires. I dont know why, but I like the orange lights so I am rewiring lol.
