Fully Thorp'ified, Shelf-Queen Double Dare Score

Just picked up this “Double Dare” (really USA-1 w/ DD body/engine) off the interwebs for $150 shipped 3 day air from Hawaii. The auction actually ended and I purchased it outside of eBay.

The seller didn’t know anything about it because he/she bought it at a garage sale. Lucky for me because it is fully Thorp’fied w/ all their Dirt Burners parts for a USA-1, except turnbuckles (but it has Technacraft type). Has full Thorp Universal Sliding Type Axles for USA-1 w/ Blue Wheel Hubs (Fr & Re), Thorp Ball Diffs (Fr & Re), Thorp Counter & Idler Gears (Fr & Re), & Technacraft Turnbuckles. All of these parts looked to never have been used. I say this because each gear looks brand new and since those Thorp blue anodized wheel hubs only have 2 studs for each wheel, some anodizing is usually rubbed off after use. These look brand new. To use the Thorp USA-1 parts on a DD requires USA-1 suspension parts, which this has. As well as metal USA-1 shock towers and Duratrax Gold Shocks (popular ‘90s USA-1 upgrade). All the plastic parts are new looking and shiny minus 5ish scratches on the front gear case & bumper.

The body also has rare greeny yellow Thorp Dirt Burner decal, Technacraft decal and paint/body is in near perfect box art condition. The bumpers/engine (& chassis braces) have some chrome discoloration/mild chips and for what new parts sell for, they will stay that way.

Anyone have any experience using something other than the Thorp hubs on these axles? I'd like to be able to run Clod wheels if I cannot find any nice, shiny A-1 wheels. And the Thorp hubs prevent that. Plus, even though I have not tested them, they do not seem very durable only having 2 wheel pins and being a clamp on design. This truck will eventually have a "mild" brushless setup.

I also recently purchased (3) pairs of Thorp USA-1 wheel axles, (2) pairs of Thorp universal style diff/spool outdrives, extra Thorp ball diff/spool gear, Thorp spool, Thorp ball diff, pair of Thorp dogbone outdrives for stock diff, & a spare ball diff part. All new in package. Bought a few spare Kyosho stock replacement parts too. So I will have lots of parts or might build a real Double Dare with them and put an A-1 body on new truck. Or....I have the body from RCMT member BloodClods old Sassy USA-1, or the body from William G's old Sassy USA-1, as well as one from Clodiphobia. But trucks from each are long gone.

Boy I love eBay! I wanted one of these so bad about 10 years ago but never found one. Now I have 3 total, lol & every other Thorp gear.
