Well, for the most part. I still have probation but I'm no longer on house arrest!

Friday was the first day, and the first thing I did was go to my semi-local hobby shop. There wasn't a whole lot for vehicles, but there's definitely parts. My Jato friend needed stuff so I went to check it out. The only thing I bought was a regulator cap to fit an airbrush hose onto a propel can.

Today, I brought my Slash and Rustler (bot VXL) to my friend's house who lives a few streets over. My Jato friend stays there, so I brought an extra vehicle for my other friend. I also brought all my batteries, some adapters and a charger. I must say it was great to have my rc's run on some actual dirt. Well, nothing is really "dirt" in FL, It's either dust or sand.

I broke a stock caster block in half on my Slash today. I was driving it in the street, went to avoid my friend and as I drove it past myself it went straight into his 1:1 car's tire. I was running an 8 cell 4500 pack, it wasn't full speed but it was moving pretty good. I have some RPM blocks, so all I gotta do is put 'em on.

Anyway, the Desert Rat body with Proline Hammers and Eight Shooter beadlocks look awesome.
The tires did really well too, even in some super-soft fine sand.

I brought my camera for pics and video... but forgot my memory card. So I didn't get anything.

I think my Rustler's diff is unloading to one side more than the other. The rear end always kicked out to one side when I punched it. I noticed a few days ago that turning one rear wheel, the other wouldn't turn at all. I did take it apart but everything seemed fine, so I just put it back together.

After seeing/driving my friends Jato a few times and running out of batteries, I'm contemplating on getting a Nitro.
To pay for it, I'll have to sell a vehicle or two. But I can't make up my mind which ones.
If/when I do go nitro, I'm thinking Savage X 4.6 or Losi LST2. Depending one what I can afford.
Probably the Savage X.

check the bearings on your Rustler on the side that won't spin easy, bet 1 of them is toast or frozen

Mind if I ask what you were on probation for? If you don't want to answer I understand. I'm always interested in hearing what happened. Also how much time did you get?

Short story... I got cut off on I-95, swerved, slid, head on into a tree at high speed. Killed my friend who was a passenger.
After 4 years of docket calls and continuances, I was facing a minimum of 10 years in Florida prison.

I took a plea for:
4 years probation, first 6 months on house arrest
3 years suspended license
300 hours community service, 120 of them to be served in a Hospital/Trauma Center (but there's no program like that here)
$13,000 in restitution plus $8,000 in probation fees
And I'm a Felon

I moved to FL with two friends, one was already in a wheelchair from a car accident 5 years prior to the exact day of mine (9/12). He had a bed sore that ended up really infected and he went into shock and it almost killed him. He was in the hospital when I had my accident. He has since moved back to Maine. Luckily my parents were already living here, or I'd be totally screwed. I'd be in prison for the next years or homeless.

It's been one h*ll of a year, but I don't have time to write that story. I'm about to be picked up by a friend.
Maybe later.

Story of 2009; or, It's been a h*ll of a year:

I was supposed to be sentenced like, Jan 7, but the prosecutor fell and broke his collarbone. That pushed the date back a couple weeks. Then my Dad was killed on his motorcycle on his way to work on Jan 11. A tractor trailer hauling palm trees failed at an illegal u-turn and was parked across both southbound lanes of US1. I am now the last living male in family with my last name. My dad's death set the trial date back 3 months. Mom and I drove the RV across the country to California where we were for most of the 3 months. My sister graduated college with honors in May (in Cali). I flew back to FL with my sister in time to appear in court. Skip a few months on house arrest and my grandmother gets diagnosed with cancer. She died a week before my sister's wedding Sept 27. I lucky the judge granted me a week to travel to NH to give her away at the wedding. Skip to last week and I got news that a friend in California fell into a ravine and died. He was out with some friends who fell asleep and he went off by himself. He might have lived if someone were with him. He had some head trauma but he most likely died from exposure being in the cold all night.

It's been a little rough

Ok, I tried..I really tried. But I just gotta say it. When you get all this straightened out, I think you've got one 0000 of a book deal or movie deal on your hands. I know it's tragic, but this kind of f'd up stuff is what epic dramas are made of.
