Foam Question

Hey Gang,

It seem when I'm four wheelen (loose dirt/dust and mud) the HL the front tires look like they are being pushed across the dirt when I turn....sooooo I was wondering if I ran with out foam in the tire would it help to grip more when turning?? I know the crawlers do this so the tires grip more of the rock when crawling and that is what I was hoping for as well.

By the way both front and back are locked and I would like to keep it this way because the HL can go more places:trk

Thanks.....Tom

Tom, 1st i would try changing the castor blocks with the optional ones that came with the kit. it will give you more steering.

i didn't run foam in my stock HL tires and i didn't have a problem with steering.what tires are you using ?

Mybad..... it has 2.2 Moabs. I thought about useing the castor blocks but I thought it would hurt the turn more? Guess I give them a try and see what happens.

do you have bead locks ? unglueing can be a pia.

i would try different foam instead of all together getting rid of it. the HL is heavy so a moab not be able to hold it up 100%. i would ry some reduced diameter foam. maybe like half of its original size or a softer foam insert.

your ''pushing'' because your running a locked rear differential. I am right right?

What's happening is your rear has more traction than the front. Try to move some weight forward, or reduce the weight in the trucks rear.

Twisted,

No beadlocks, yeah I know to well the pia of unglueing tires:bang I did try the Moabs before glueing them way back when and your right the truck is just to heavy.

Wll,

I kind of figured that was the problem but I really don't want to unlock the rear and the only weight to move would be the battery. I've got both servos (shift and steering) up front over the axle but I've had that setup since the build of the truck.

I wonder if wheel weights placed up under the front of the body would help?? I would have to get a butt load to help even out the weight of the battery in the rear though?

when you getting the push ? high speed or low ? i know what ya mean by wanting to stick with the diffs locked but with the high lift its as easy as it can be. try unlocking just the front.if its an all out trail rig and you want to keep the diffs locked for obvious reasons maybe start thinking of a better suited tire ?
i know the 2.2 mud slingers work awesome on just about everything and look mean.they tend to be a bit sketchy on the rocks but the high lift isnt a rock crawler.
