EVX-2 question

I sent this to TRAXXAS Support last night just to make sure I am good to go. I have not heard back if this will be ok...Any thoughts?

"I have the new EVX-2 ESC and I am running it in my stock Clod Buster with the Stock RS-540 motors. My question is, I would like to run a single 3S, 11.1 volt lipo battery and was wondering if I used this connector would the ESC be fine? Is there 11.1 volts going to each input red wire to the ESC? I know that total the ESC can handle 16.8 volts. I don't want to fry my new ESC."

I hooked the battery up to the connector with "disconnect battery to turn off electronic speed control" and the other connector has a looped(shorted) connector on it.

Well, I got a response. So I guess I will be going the two battery route...Yeah I could use the jumper if I wanted to run 6 Volts. I this case I wanted to run a single 11.1 Volt.

Traxxas Response:
"It will not work. The most you can run on a single battery is 8.4 volts."

In some cases what it does is over tax the ESC's BEC.
Novak on their super duty recommends running a seperate BEC if you go with a high single input.

Couldn't you run a jumper to tie the two leads off the esc into one so that it would see the 11.v from your one battery?

You can, but the way it's wired puts alot of juice to the factory bec, which in turn tries to shut down..
If you were running less voltage, then yes..
