EVX-2/Futaba Magnum Sport problem!!!

I think my problem may be the reciever itself but lets see what you guys say.

I put the front and rear steering on channel 1 with a y harness, everything was fine with both the stock esc and a the dynamite 12t. Now that I have the EVX-2 however the steering has slowed to the point that its very difficult to drive. in fact if im on the throttle the steering barely works, and will not center until I let off the throttle completely. :bang

I also noticed a slowed down acceleration, I figured the the problem was simply the Traxxas 12t motor so I swapped out to go back to the E-MAXX 21t titan....still no accel....

Tried the 14.4v on the 21 turn....a little better but not much. top end seems fine, gear mesh is a little tight but not enough to slow it down. It's not like I wedged the thing in there!!

I'll be digging through the 32p gearing to find a spur that works, I can not set the mesh properly on this truck as it causes the gears to grind like a mug!! I've already came away from the stock pinion and went to a Robinson...still did it, so I then went to a Traxxas and it got better, but still have to set the mesh a little tight. Now I've had 4 different motors in this thing, and my accel problem did not start until the third motor and now no matter which motor or ESC I have in it the problem persists. I am wondering however, if this may be the radio itself. When I first put the Futaba Magnum in it (at the same time I swapped the ESC for the Tazer) is when this all started. and as I said...4 motors, and 3 different ESC's...same resaults. I screwed up though....I wasnt paying attention when I pulgged in the ESC and accidentally plugged it into the battery inlet. So I'm thinking I may have done some damage to the receiver guys. let me know what you think.

OHHHH....I havent gone brushless because I cant afford it...all these motors and ESC's I've either had....or scored for 10 bucks...

Final questions....will the 12t 550 from traxxas hold up to 14.4 volts? I have the 21 in it right now...but if it will thats what is going in it. And can I wire the motor like the 775 in the Summit on either of the 550's?

Did you perform a set up for the EVX with the new radio? Also, you're not in training mode, are you?

I'll bet the bec isn't putting out enough juice if both servos are good.
Many ESC's only put out a small 3amp supply barely enough for 1 servo.

Castle (or other brands) makes a nice adjustable external BEC unit that'll put out 6 amps easy

Well if this problem is across three different ESC's and 4 different motors the only constants are the battery and the receiver. Do you have another radio system you can swap out to test it?

Also - I don't think the Magnum Sport has EPA but if it does make sure it's dialed to 100% for the throttle.

Using stock servos, I've never had a problem on my dual servo clods n such. Using the Futaba radio....

Ive already been through the batteries and whatnot....I'm going to swap in a JR XS2 right now.

Problem solved....put jr in the truck and its friggen awesome!!!
Okay it took 2 runs and 2 spur gears LOL!! Backed off the slipper clutch a little, It wont drag its butt across the ground for 40 feet no more its still enough power to lift the front end and torque twist the front axle! Looks like a real monster leaving the line now! 4 runs so far today and the spur still looks like new. I'm very happy with the performance but the Dynamite fuse 5200kv brushless will be in order for the future....

Now...does anyone have any monster maxx mild or wild motors around? Preferably one that doesnt have burnt up brushes.....let me know!! :rock

Make sure you upgrade to the Mod1 spur & pinion before you throw more power at it. You're likely nearing the limit of the stock 48P gears, especially running 14.4V to the motor...

The Mod1 upgrade will be made shortly, Probably in 2 weeks...I'll be making the purchase from you. Like I said though the 48p is holding up just fine with the slipper backed out a little bit. But I know I wont get past a couple weeks with it. About 2 weeks....and I'll order it.
