ESC issues

Ok, so as the title says I am having some issues with the stock esc. Now I know that most of you are probibly going to say that I should just up-grade to a new/better esc, but to me that is not the point the point is that I havent even run 8 packs through the stock esc (just purchased it on the 10th). To start off I have only been running 6 cell packs, stock motor, and the GP hasn't seen any water play time.

But, heres what I have been experiencing. It started with the motor not running and losing power to the servos, I cleaned and relubed the motor so now it runs with the esc. Still dont have sny power to the servos though unless I use a reciever pack, so I dont think its the radio. I also tried a different esc from another truck I have and everything seemed fine and worked. So does anyone have a quick fix or should I just try to get it replaced under the warranty?

check the battery connector on the ESC....my truck would cut out and just stopped working,I thought the battery was bad so tryed another battery ,it worked fine then started doing the same thing. It turns out hte connector on the ESC was bad so I cut the stock connectors off and replaced them with Deans. I dunno if thats your problem but it sounds like what was happening to me.

Mine just started doing this similar thing as well.
I got my GP all back together and now it may run for a minute or two all the while it looses power while it seams to glitch around. Now it sits there and you can see the ESC just sit there and blink the red LED and nothing works, it is dead as door nail. I can turn it on and off and reconnect the battery and the ESC just sits there and blinks.
Is my ESC shot as well?

I think the stock ESC is a bit too poor for this application. Weather it's the bouncing or the amperage needed or something but the failure rate seems very high.

More than a few new trucks by different manufacturers seem to have cut it to close with the specifications used in ''stock'' electronics lately. I think this is a bad trend. Frustrating a new user is not a good thing and will never grow the hobby. Turn them off more likely.

Seems everything now has to be ''ready to run'' (RTR) and keeping the price low means they skimp in different areas.

Used to be you bought a kit, and all the electronics were seperate. You had to ask what to buy from hopefully a knowlegeable hobbyshop employee. You could even ask them for help if you had a question during assembly.

Now though, profit is king and on the consumer side (I want it now) self satisfaction unfortunatly has us keep seeing failures and frustrations.

I'll bet your ESC has gone bad, and you should contact redcat racing http://www.redcatracing.com/

That is what I did and in a way I'm pleased to say that I have a new on on its way to me. Probibly not going to put it back in the GP though, but in another model that needs less amps.

I just submitted my ESC warranty claim. Did they ask you to send back the old one before sending the new one?
I agree, the failure rate on these seems kind of high.
Thanks,

I wouldn't waste my time with the stock esc.
Seriously.
All this hassle you guys are going through, and for what?
An esc that can't handle much more then a stock motor?

Get a good brushless esc and motor, it Is worth the money, and you will thank yourself every time you hit that gas pedal!

First thing I did with my GP was to replace the plug with Deans. The second was to replace the radio with a Spektrum 2.4 setup. No ESC problems at the moment, but it will go BL very soon.
