Dusted off the purple people eater

I recently got this bad boy up and running again. The rear motor had been cooked since the 08 worlds. Thanks to some help from Bart I was able to obtain some stand up brushes needed to get it rebuilt. My interest was also sparked when I saw the new visor and head light covers like APM used to make now being made by gear head RC and sold through RPP Hobby. Got them installed and hit the beach for a little cruise.

Enjoy!

That's very nice I like the details you put into it?

BTW I like to know of
what are using to get that bed to tilt so nicely?

Cool looking clod! I recognize it from the.clod picture gallery but these shot are fantastic. The old school clods really have my interest right now.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys :cool

Will, we still have Monster Mash, it's currently sitting on the new Mickey T 54" TTC baja claws. Jeff and his friend Brian were the 1st to people to buy them when they were released for their trucks.

The tilt bed is actually set up very very simple. It uses a clod grill metal bract on each side bolted onto the tub, a small l bracket from an old tamiya kit then bolts to where the rear bumper screws on. There is another L bracket bolted to the roll bar bolt that has the linkage for the servo actuated tilting. I'll take some pics, over all it's a very simple system.

I am on the hunt for a stock length sassy chassis, I just missed out an auction that had a red anodized one :mad Out bid in the last 20 seconds. I want to build a total old school clod like this one and I even have a lead on a set of stock style JPS ladder bars. The next one I want the hood to tilt as well.

I have a real soft spot for old school trucks like this, I was drooling over the red one that was at Ihobby that Eric had pictures of on facebook...that truck is AWESOME!

Man I just love these tilt bed Monster Trucks. I have a old ClodBuster body and last I can remember you can hot wire the bodies to cut them and this is what I really want to do. But I really like to see in detail of how the beds are hooked up so they can tilt so I can fabricate my own.
Scale Maniac feel free to shoot me a pm with pictures when you can as I really like to see of how you did this.

ScaleManiac, welcome back. I love your Clod. I especially love the tow hitch. I'm going rebuild my retro Clod and put on the tow hitch. Funny thing is I have a USA-1 tow hitch, too. Retro Clods are awesome!!
