I have both now. The rustler was my second hobby grade RC. First was a grasshopper. But I rescently got the pede. Overall as said they share prolly 75% of their parts. Main differances are main chassis, body, and steering. I actualy prefer the pede over the ruslter but it's been years since I ran the rustler. It's donated many parts over the years to other things, like the shocks for the MT, trans for the crawler ETC. I just never realy liked the way the rustler handled. Now that I know more about suspension tuning and such I may end up parting the pede to rebuild the rusty to try it again since all the neighbors run evader st's.
