Hey man! Lol I know, this place is dead...but I won't leave ya waiting. As far as I know, there aren't any CVDs besides the GPM ones that will directly fit the Dagger's stock-length suspension...although I seem to remember that SeerHawk once said that MIP Associated B4 CVDs will fit with slight modification...

apparently not as long as i imagined :)

et DT! hows the dagger? mine's on its 3rd incarnation.. its taking some time to (FINALLY? :rof ) complete. i'm thinking 8cell battery with a pair of 550s.

those gpm cvds are a bit affordable on ebay but just like what everybody said, it breaks easily.. and with the set up i'm thinking (plus maxx tires) i guess they will snap very easily.

thanks for the tip. ill just ask seerhawk about it. gosh i hope its not that much of a mod.

Yeah, the Dagger forum is kinda... empty.
I'm still working on my swap to Pede sliders, but it's no fun job with basic tools. Worked out the front, now busy with the rear. Broke both diff outdrives while modding, now trying a different way. Will post pics when done! Though I might shoot a pic of the current state, if you're interested.
I'd like to use some sort of bellcrank steering on it, but not up high above the gearbox, so I'm cracking my brains to come up with something on the front of the shocktower...

3rd incarnation, eh? Do you have any pics? I'd love to see it...based on your previous versions, I bet it's pretty awesome!

As for my Dagger...well, it's basically finished. Yes...finished lol! She's kitted out with dual Mamba Max 5700 systems on twin 8-cell 4500 packs, with Demon's chassis, custom towers, a prototype rear super diff, RS4MT CVDs, Maxx BowTie MTRs, with a Nomadio React...all sorts:

I must admit, I'm *very* happy with it now...the drivetrain is finally pretty reliable, and it'll hit 55mph with enough space, and enough guts lol.

Anyhoo, back to CVDs! I don't think the B4 CVD mod needed much, just a few washers or something I think...

Wow Trasher, it's looking great, better than ever!
Do you also have RS4MT arms installed, to match the length of the cvd's?

Dagger Thrasher

Thanks man. :) I don't have RS4MT arms on there, but I'm using R2-C2 aluminium arms which are the same length. Aluminium isn't ideal as they're prone to bending in a bad crash, but at the time there weren't any other options for extended arms...and they do the job. The CVDs themselves are proving to be incredibly strong for their size too, holding upto constant wheelies, backflips and high speeds.
I would suggest, if you can stretch to it MadHaw, going to an extended suspension setup (use RS4MT arms if you can find some, or maybe Rush arms would work) and get some RS4MT/Rush CVDs. I've modified the suspension toplink mount geometry to maintain full suspension stroke as the stock geometry will limit stroke with CVDs, but you can always use the RS4MT/Rush dogbones which are still stronger than stock. :)

Daggerthrasher,
So the front bumper and gearcase are from the Dagger, and that's pretty much it? That is just too funny, I think I read that Boyd Coddington (American Hotrod dude) got in tax trouble for something like that, not an issue here obviously....Beautiful rig :tmb

WOW!

That is really some "AMAZING" Dagger, DaggerThrasher. I have seen some of your posts on RCZ Brushless threads so I knew you were up to something with the MM..

I really like the low stadium truck stance, gotta see a video next, if you got one post it here. Great work!

dual mamba maxxes????!!!!!?!?!?!?! holy smokes batman! :willy

now all it needs are dual 3-celled 11.1v li-poly and you're ready to try a new speed record.

awesome ride trasher! sweet sweet sweet!

i just got my first nitro.. a terra crusher (i know i know... its not the best truck but i got it cheap) which currently keeps my rc blood occupied. hopefully busy enough to keep my dagger project side-lined. cuz i dont wanna rush it. ;)

Cheers guys! Apologies for taking so long to reply to this thread...I must admit, I forgot about it. :( But thanks for the compliments!

Lav...yep, it's only about10% Dagger now lol! In fact, I've made major changes since these pics were taken. I've just had done a new and slightly redesigned chassis in 3mm T700 carbon fibre. I has a few design improvements, but is very similar to the chassis in these pics. I've also got new low-CG carbon fibre towers coming soon, which will mount Jammin' factory team X1-CR front shocks on. This setup will be lighter and stronger than the towers in these pics (they keep bending, unbelievably). She also has a custom aluminium-cased sealed "Super Diff" in the rear, which uses HPI Savage 4-bevel innards and again, I have one coming for the front soon. There's several other changes and tweaks coming as well. :)

SeerHawk...thanks man! Don't worry, I plan to have a video of her running within the month. I'm getting together with a load of RC guys from RCKingdom.co.uk on the 6th of October, and CF will be finished and running there. Someone will probably be videoing!

MadHaw...thanks mate! 3-cell LiPo would be nice, but that setup would fit in this chassis...and I've already got way too much power as it is lol! Any progress with your TC?

Tejotasbd....cheers man, thanks for the compliment. Most of the gears in the gearboxes are stock, with exception to the diffs and hardened steel pinions.

:) Thanks for the compliments everyone, they mean a lot. I'll try and get some new pics up when she's finished with the latest mods. :)

Wow. I'm very intrigued! Do you have more information on this anywhere?

EDIT: I think I just found what you're talking about. Looks awesome! Although, I think this might be more of something I can pull off on my own. :tmb BTW, I just registered over there, so I may ask some stupid questions soon.

That's the one! Although most of the discussion and development was done here: http://www.rckingdom.co.uk/mam/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=167&topic=4145.0 (I spend most of my time on RcKingdom, and that thread goes through the whole development). I'd heartily recommend you sign up to RcK; it doesn't matter that you're not in the UK. It's a great community...to be honest, better than RCDW is. There are also several Dagger owners at RcK (including me of course) that will be able to answer any questions you have. RCDW is dying, unfortunately. :(

As for the ball diff...don't. Henry himself said that it was a total faliure...it just wasn't strong enough but he never posted about it. He has made, or will be making a number of Super Diffs though...so if you contact him, you may be able to get one or two. :)

Regarding the ball diff: D'oh!
Regarding the entropy @ RCDW: Double D'oh!

What's happening? Is Dagger Web losing interest or participation? I'm really sorry to hear about this. I just re-discovered it. I've made a profile over at RcK (same as here and Scale 4x4 RC), so I'll be poking around there a bit.

Regarding the Super Diffs, I'm unable to commit to them at the moment. It's likely that I'll probably miss the current "production envelope." The fallback would always be the TNX mod. Thanks a bunch. :D

That's alright mate. The TNX mod helps, but it's not the "indestructible" modification I originally thought it to be by any means lol. But, it's an improvement!

Yep, RCDW is dying off really. The market has moved on from the Dagger, with less and less people buying them. Those that do are flat newbies, so there's not many projects going on either. :( There's a few of us at RCK that will continue to fly the the flag though! Don't worry if you can't commit to a diff. I don't know what Henry has planned in the way of future production exactly so you'll want to talk to him.

Perhaps cya over at RcK, you'd be more than welcome. :)

Yea I'm still here too!

RCDW isnt totally dead, more of just a slow bubble of activity now and then.

I really need to get one/both of my daggers up and running again...

Not been on here for ages!!

Yes, about the ball diff - ermm, it was a failure. It was designed to be in a small tamiya touring car, not an overpowered wild dagger. I think it could still be persuaded to work, but it would need much, much stronger springs, and ceramic balls, and time and money.

Instead, I turned my attention to the 'super diff' The main aim of that project is to create an easily(ish) reproducable diff for people running high power motors, such as myself and dagger thrasher running dual brushless. The diff can be tuned with different weight oils, and the outdrives can be changed for most things - allowing people to run anything from standard size shafts right up to savage size universals.

My dagger has been rather neglected, but at some stage things will start to move again...

Madhaw - I run a 3s2p 11.1v LiPo pack :D
Ragnarok - I don't really think you will miss it, since I started the idea many months ago I have only got round to producing two, both of which dagger thrasher now has, and demand is minimal, so I see no rush for them.
