Clodbuster Restoration

After owning my very first Clodbuster since December 1988 I felt it was time to dismantle the truck early last March and have it done over. First task was to remove the dirt off of the gear cases and then Mask the motors off and spray the cases with primer and then give them a coat of Burgundy with the bellcranks painted Cherry Red. You don't realize how dirty it is not until you take the suspension Arms off. Many thanks to Twin92 for sending me replacements.

And here's the latest of what I done today. I decided to go with Cherry Red for the chassis.

I'll keep this thread updated once the shipment arrives from RPPHobby.com this week coming.

Question

Does anyone know where I can get swirl decals? I was thinking if I can't find any that I would do some electric engraving. But I'm open for any other suggestions.

Well I think things are slowly coming together now.

It`s like Christmas in July being that I received the Hemi today plus a Parcel pickup later tonight after 5:00
I just hope it`s the one from RPPHobby.com. I`m going to be very busy in getting this project done.:)

These should work just fine.

My future plans are to install the ESP lift kit with white 100mm scale shocks with red shock boots which will include a Tow Shackle. I may even install Police lights with other scale features. Side Mirrors will also be installed on the replacement body that arrived today.

I got enough just to get me going with pictures to follow.

Daniel, man those parts are really gonna make this project look killer!! You will like those RC4wd shocks. I have a set of the 80mm ones on my Stomper Bully retro I am building, they are really nice shocks and give some really nice scale detail to the truck.

I also see you got yourself a 3Racing winch! They are super cool too, I have mounted one of them in a Clod bumper which is going on my Miss All American retro. Took a bit of work to hog the bumper out in the right areas to make the winch fit but it really makes the look of the truck. Again, adds some really nice detail.

Thanks for your comments Mike!! I dont have the 100mm shocks yet. Those will be ordered in later on next month or perhaps pass that with fender flares and police lights. As far as installation of the winch that wont be a problem.. BTW I need some help in finding a 25th circular emblem decal to put onto the truck body. If anybody knows of where I can find one that be great.:)

I spent most of back breaking day today until 9:30 tonight in getting this beast back together. But I think the back motor needs a few drops of electric oil. Theirs no way it could be the bearings. I lifted the front end up and gave the back in a push and I'm pretty sure it's the motor becoz they never been done for the years that I had them. Right now my back is a little sore from standing most of the day in assembling this back together.. I decided to make my own swirls using Bic's white out pen. The stock shocks are only there temporary until I order the scale shocks in hopefully next month. I think I have an idea of how I'm going to install the winch. Here's a some different view angels.

Lookin' good Dan!!!!
Thanks Mike!! The biggest problem I'm still having is figuring out what color to paint the body. It's gonna be something that will pop out. I've already used White, Red, Black and Blue on the other bodies. I was thinking of the A-TEAM van paint scheme or Red with Blue representing
the 1987 Clod with the 2012 re-release Clod with a 25th Anniversary ribbon decal. Honestly It's hard to decide of what other colors to use for the replacement body that will pop out from the chassis. I know for a fact that I'm heading out of town to buy Tamiya paints.

I am loving the tire/wheel combo, looking awesome.

Body colour is going to be a hard choice since the wheels and chassis already pop pretty good. going to be hard to top that. Maybe blue and white to go with the red chassis? Would also follow the Tamiya red/white/blue logo colours.

Thanks everyone for your comments. A thought came across my mind well I was cleaning my daughter paint brushes. My idea was to paint it representing the Canadian Flag. The other idea my friend told me was to paint it like the Fall Guy TV series truck. But to come think of it Blue and White would work also as Spidubic already pointed out. I slapped the body on with the Hemi just to give you an idea of how she looks. I plan on pulling out the windsheild from my old red body and put it into this body. I know everyone likes pictures so here you go..

Remember I was saying it's gotta be the back motor squealing not the bearings when I lifted the front end up and gave it a push. Well I was right!! I dropped some electric motor oil down it a few times tonight and gave the truck a push back and forth on the bench and the noise stopped.:)
