Clod wheels on my GP

Tools I used, dremel, couple of carbide bits, drill and a unibit

First press the 2.2 wheel into the inside of the clod rim hard enough the tabs on the inner part of the clod wheel leaves an impression on the 2.2 wheel, mark those onto the inner bead of the 2.2 wheel. Then cutoff the outer beads of the Traxxas 2.2 rims (part# 3675)

Now notch out the parts you just marked so the 2.2 wheel will side down all the way into the clod wheel. This will help in keeping the wheel rfom spinning and being out of round.

Make sure the wheel sits flush in the clod wheel, then pull it back out so you can take your drill and unibit and drill out the mounting hole in the clod rim big enough that you can get your wrench through it.

Now its time to glue it in.

Let it dry for at least a day or two, then you are reading to go.

I used some Blue Traxxas lock nuts, we will see how they work, I know they are extremely hard to get loose once you have them tighten because they have grooves machined into them.

Havent got to run it much other than indoors because of the rain we have had, but so far so good. If you guys have any suggestions that I need to do let me know. May add a few screws through the 2 rims to make sure they dont move, but I will see after I have done some harder bashing on them.

I know Will did a write up on this, but just wanted to show how I did it.

Thanks, Jeremy.

You know I just measured it and this way makes the GP extremely wide. It measured 18" wide, outer edge of tire to outer edge of tire, uuummmmm maybe a little too wide, lol. Its almost square now though, total length from outer tread to outer tread is 18 1/2". oops.

-yeah, but it looks like the cat's OK with it:laugh Really, I think a SCT-type rim is what's needed, then the tire/wheel colld be much closer to the body. OR, cut n" shut tires could work to lessen overall width.
