You'll have to decide what you want to do WITH the truck before you really decide what to do TO the truck.

Starters are bearings and electronic speed control (esc). Next is usually oil shocks, and then some sort of chassis. There are approximately one gajillion chassis for the clod now, depending on what you want to do with it, or you can make your own.

Better motors are also fun, but that may be better saved until the truck is set up to handle them.

The other first modifications that I would suggest in addition to the ones already mentioned are hardened steel 32 pitch pinion gears (the stock ones have 13 teeth) and low resistance wiring and battery plugs. Both Traxxas and Robinson Racing make high quality steel pinion gears. High quality low resistance wiring and plugs are available from W.S Deans. Others like to use Duratrax battery plugs but I have no personal experience with them.

These first few modifications won't cost a whole lot but they will make a difference in your truck's durability, run time, and power.
