Clod Brushless ?

Been thinking about getting another clod to add to my stable and giving it the brushless power or just add it to the one i have now. Either way, I'm trying to figure out what would be a good brushless setup to run. Been looking at EZ-Run's, Hobbywing, Castle and some Leopards. What I'm trying to do is keep it a somewhat budget build but with a Clod, that isn't always going to happen. All comments are welcome to help me figure out what would be good to go with.

Gonna be kinda hard to beat the new version of the Castle Sidewinder 4600's at just $99.00 for motor and esc. Yeah, you might find something cheaper, but it won't have Castle's quality or support!

I sell them at my shop for the $99.00

castle sidewinders and 4600's will run you $200 now so they are really hard to beat with all the adjustablity they provide

I tried looking on CC's site but I couldn't find the Sidewinder for 99$, But that does sound like a great deal. Sounds like I'll have to save up 200$ to get be a pair.

You must have had better luck with customer service than I;It took me over a week to hear from anyone, and it will be a while before i buy another Castle system just for that fact.

Customer service

Wow that's unbelievable if I was a betting man I would bet they answer the phone ever time, I got the new dx3r pro and none of my electrics would work they walked me through the programming in the radio so it would work with the castle system

i'm gonna set my current project clod up with brushless soon, but i'm going with novak. i have heard good things about castle, but that little "made in china" sticker makes me want to look elsewhere. novak is made here in the USA, so that's where my money goes. of course, that means i'm spending 50% more for my systems (from tower hobbies).

brands aside, is a 4600kv bl motor the "norm" for a clod?

Anyone used the Traxxas VXL3m system? That way it's waterproof. Most 540 BL systems are actually 380 rotors anyway when you're buying China stuff so I don't see where that would be too far off the mark.

the traxxas motors are great, loads of torque so they'll do well in a clod. A couple guys here run them. :)

Ya the vxl's rock my buddy has them in his truck I ordered just the motors gonna use castle speed controllers, FYI if you plan on running them on 2s lipo they are pigs you need to put them on 3s.

Yeah the VXL motors in clods are slow as poo.

That and the VXL3 escs are awful. Run them on the castle ESC's and a 3s pack an it will rip.

I run the sidewinder 4600kv combo in my wolverine truck, its got a boat load of power, and adaptability cant be beat, also run a castle sct combo in my sc10 4x4(basically a sidewinder with 3800kv motor) and the thing is closer to a rocket ship then a short course truck lol.
