clearcoating issues.... grr!

So I painted my clod hardbody with some krylon fusion "for plastic" black paint, then proceeded to paint all my silver trim with a silver fine tip marker. Then I used some krylon triple thick crystal clear glaze 0501. It says its ok to use on plastic so I figured that it'd do the trick.. well it actually turned my black into a grey, nd my silver into white LOL! So being that I'm not experienced at all with painting.. what do you guys think I've done wrong? This clear does a darn good job at making a nice thick shine, but it wrecked my paintjob. Any ideas?

When I did my High Lift body I noticed it would get a glazed doughnut look until it dried. I figure you let it dry before posting so maybe you sprayed it to thick. Its also possible its meant to cover bare plastic and not paint. Once dried there is no going back.

I used rust-oleum sandable primer and tamiya model paint for my high lift body. If you use a good primer you should have no trouble using most paints. You could also just get chrome paint at any store instead of using a marker.

I think I just sprayed it too thick on the hood, the rest of the body dryed out fine, ill just have to sand down the front end and redo it. Let's just hope it looks good after I'm done.

i have used it before it is very thick and normally had to wait minimum of 2 days after paint job to put this clear on to prevent bleeding ..

in my limited experience with Fusion paint, ive noticed that it can be shined pretty well with no clear at all.
then after i got it shined, i put a very thin clear on it and re-applied thin coats 7 or 8 times.

I would go out and buy a can of MinWax fast trying clear Polyurethane. I applied this to my black BullHead body with a small brush with no problems cause to the paint. I'm amazed of how shiny it is to this day. A paint pen would also work fine for you too. The paint I used on the Bullhead body a good number of years ago was Tamiya Paints. So liquid polyuretane will work just fine. I'm not too faund of automotive clear coats that are on the market.
