Rear Steer Lockout

My hardware finally came in, so I can kick up the build once again. I received in some M3 locknuts and some M3 stainless screws. I installed the lockout bracket last night and cut my steering links. I will drill and tap tonight, and hopefully the USPS will deliver my rod ends tomorrow.

***update***

It's been a while since I last updated. Been busy with a home improvement projects and Turkey. I finally had some time to give some attention to my Clod the last couple of days.

I first decided to keep the 4WS since I am just bashing in the backyard with my truck. Don't have any MT racing down in TX so no real need to go FWS. I fabricated another steering bracket and mounted my servos. I need a servo reverser for the rear. I was going to rewire the back servo internally but it has globs of glue on top of the soldering. Looks like I would make a mess if I attempted to melt it.

I ran out of project funds because of home improvement projects, Black Friday, Turkey day, Cyber Monday, and Christmas so I had to forego the brushless for now. I took my 12x2 Diamonds out of my ZIII and put them into the new truck for now. I had scored an LVD EVX2 for $40 earlier this year so I put that in the truck too.

I installed my new TXT wheels (love them!) and Pullers (love them even more!) onto the truck and I absolutley love the look.

Upside down shot!

I am pretty much done for now to get it running. I just need to swing by the LHS to pick up a servo reverser and she'll be jumpin' this weekend. I still need to figure out my swaybar setup, but I'm going to try it like it is for now.

Hope you all enjoy the pics!

@KC27,

I may have to do a swaybar setup like that. I originally wanted to have something mocked up like full scale swaybars, but I may be second guessing myself.

Servo reversed.

I called two LHS yesterday, and I didn't have any luck finding a servo reverser. Boo! One hobby shop knew what I was talking about but was out of stock and the other had no idea what I was talking about and kept passing me onto another employee.

So i decided to take matters into my own hands. I opened up the front servo this time and I was pleased to find that the solder tabs were such that it was easier for me to reach the tabs to resolder and the glue on the solder was easy to remove.

All I had to do to reverse the servo was swap the red and black wires on the motor, and swap the yellow and black wires on the servo pot.

VOILA! Wires switched.

Added a little hot glue on top of the solder connections, and I was done in under 20 minutes. Now I have a servo that turns in the opposite direction. All for $Free.99!

Thanks guys for the compliments. It really helps to hear good feeback. Especially when this stuff takes time and patience to finish. There were times when I was ready to quit, and then I would read something positive here and I'd get all motivated again.

I wired things back up last night and did a bench run to make sure everything operates correctly.

A beauty like this deserves nothing less than a pickup body.

The body for this truck will definitely be a pickup truck. I love the way monster trucks look with the cage poking out the back of the cab with bars angled down into the bed.

servo reversing

thanks for the idea to reverse the servo. how come you have to reverse the wires on the pot too? just wondering. that will be my next trick for my f350.

I found the information about how to reverse the servo on several websites(including Hitec). They all said the same thing. As I understand it, those are the feedback wires to the potentiometer. If you don't switch them, the servo will do nothing but buzz. If you're really unlucky it will puff out some white smoke.
