Drum roll please................

I pulled another late night last night putting this thing together. It is looking mighty fine! I ran out of M3 locknuts, so I'll need to place an order for more of those and I'll need to order some longer M3 SST fasteners for my 4-link connections. Overall, it went together as planned. I hope you all like the looks of things and the pics. Enjoy!

Tire shots!

Here are some shots with tires mounted. I need to get a set of wideners. I really like the RC4WD kind. I have those on my other rig and I like how they've turned out.

Lower links

Last night I did a little more tinkering. I was actuating the suspension and noticed I had some binding. I looked around to find what was going on, and I found that by mounting the lower links on the inside of the chassis the geometry layout allowed for rubbing on the link ends. So I switched the mounting location to the outside of the chassis, and it is smoother now.

You can keep the links on the inside if you use longer bolts, and add a nut against the frame, then put the link on, or use a cone washer.

Looking like a real performer! Very nice design and stance

x2 for using conical washers on your lower links. Makes things much smoother.
I've used the conical washers before, but I have never used them with Traxxas ends. I thought I wouldn't need them since the Traxxas ends have the balls with built in stand offs. Have you all used that combo before(stand off balls & conical washers)?

I don't know if I've ever used conical washers but I have used small spacers and even small nuts to gain a little more stand off distance.

Looks really good man! Im still in the planning stages of a similar build. First thing I have designed in a cad program since high school! But Im building more of a scale type basher frame that uses plate cut to look like frame rails. Wont be a full on scale build but going for a chassis that is a throwback to when monsters were still built on factory frames. I will also be cutting my side plates out on a scroll saw so they wont look near as pretty as yours, haha. I do have a question if you dont mind, how wide is your chassis from outside of plate to outside of plate? That number will save me a ton of mockup time as I am working in 2D.

Thanks bud!

92mm from outside of side plate to side plate. Good luck with your project. I look forward to seeing your official posting.

Thanks for the replies guys. I lost momentum last week, but I started tinkering again in CAD today. I'm figuring out my electronics tray and servo mounts. I'll probably start fabricating tomorrow.

E-tray, servo mount, & rear steer lockout

I did some fabricating yesterday and knocked out the electronics tray, servo mount, and rear steer lockout. Not too much trouble fabricating these up. Pretty straight forward. First picture shows all three parts.

I am going to try to install the servo mount and lockout sometime this weekend. Then it will be steering links next..
