I figure come spring or summer we'll see either a TLT variation or a CC clone from Tamiya. Both had to do well enough to warrant another release or variation. The CC series has been around since the early 90's

well you could make your own chassis then use a wheely king and 1.9's. Even use the WK suspension and shorten the shocks by internal spacers.
It would be possible, not a whole lot of work really. I myself have a WK project that is about 90% done, just need to add body posts and reciever.

Wish Tamiya made this into CC01/XC chassis instead of the DF-01 chassis.

But for sure Tamiya just won't let the CC01/XC die. A new shell will be born from that chassis.

its a shame they keep toying with my emotions about the xc chassis. i would like to think they are making another, i would hate to see a great scaler out of the box dissapear like that. i know this isnt the place, but send me a pm if your interested in an xc, i had one up for sale and it didnt sell.
as for the WK axles, they seem a bit too wide for a good 1.9 scale truck, i think there is nothing wrong with them for the 2.2 crowd, specialy not with the comps. but i get real picky when it comes to whats scale with 1.9's.
but get yoruself an xc, you wont be disapointed, i still think they are one of the best out the box trucks there is... and i would know, ive been in and out of about 20 this past year, still have about 6.
