Callin' This One The...

A lot of stick drivers put the ESC on the rear axle on one of the axle braces, the batterys on the front axle, and the Rx somewhere on the stick.

Got the both sets of parallel axle braces done tonight. Had a few go flyin' across the room from not being measured right (still need a metal break), but I finally got it right. Just need to mount the servos and re-make the steering links. So far so good though.

Yah, like I said a few went "FLYIN ACROSS TH ROOM". Some times it might be easier to buy them, to save the frustration :banghead :banghead . But once I got started , just couldn't let them win! :p Sad part is I've been looking at the BTA set up, and now don't know which way to go :( :( .

I've been curious about bta steering too.... They say you get better steering... And it's not hard to do...

From what I've seen and read it is the better set up, and it does look fairly easy to do. The only problem is that the braces I just made wont work :banghead . Back to the drawing board. Hopefully get them made tonight. More parts should be in today, so there will be lots to do anyways.

Got the BTA steering finishd up this weekend, so far so good. Ended up having to re-make the parallel axle braces, but no major problems. Seems the more I make the better they turn out :p Think I might have to scrap the 4WS, or buy a Rebel 2. Not sure if the 8T is gonna be able to handle the 55T Lathe motors and 4WS. I guess I wont really know til I try it, but there's still lots to do first.

Sweet build. I had one of those. I ran alot of weight in my tires to help it flex and keep it planted ;) If memory serves, about 6oz per tire.

Try one of these. You can run your servos directly off the battery instead of thru the esc bec. This gizmo regulates the power down to 6v and 3amps from your main battery. And alot less weight than a receiver pack :)

I just picked up some TTR CVD's from www.thecrawlerstore.com. Back in stock! :truck

Thanks Gimbal, going to get that and a set of those rims :willy . Looks like I'll have to get two of them though for 4WS. I had to re-think using the CVD's on this one. The Mad Force wheels have a 19mm hex, and until I can find(or make) an adapter to fit them I'm kinda stuck with stock :( . Hoping to get the Misfit done so I can get back to the other truck with the CVD's

Two servo regulators? If that's what you are talking about, I don't see why you couldn't power 2 servos from 1 regulator. Your white / yellow control wire still goes to the receiver from each servo. Power and ground wires go to the regulator with a splitter. However I haven't done it myself. I happen to have one at home nip. I'll try and remember to pop it open and check out the instructions...

It'll be nice to only have to buy one. If you don't mind opening it up and checking it out.

Where's the BTA pics :willy

I think if you run that servo regulator Gimbal posted or run a Rx pack, the DTX 8T will be fine. Maybe even better than a Rebel 2 cuz the 8T has huge amp rating that blows the Rebel 2 away.

DTX 8T Reversing:

Max. Constant Current: 420 amps
Max. Peak Current: 1410 amps
On-Resistance: 0.002 ohms

Tekin Rebel 2:

Max. Constant Current: 140 amps
Max. Peak Current: Undisclosed
On- Resistance: 0.0038 ohms

Yep, one regulator will work just fine. I was a little off in how I envisioned it working. Basically all it does is take the place of a receiver pack. Solder the red regulator wire to your positive main battery terminal (on the esc side of your connector), solder the negative regulator to the neg batt terminal, then plug the unit into the "batt" port on your ESC. So you are using the main pack as your go juice and receiver pack. Gives you a good constant 6v / 3amp power source to your servos :truck

Specs on that Duratrax esc look good! I too am curious how smooth it is...

Yah, guess I never really compared the specs before. Just gonna have to test it to find out. BTW thanks for the heads up Gimbal, really appreciate it.

Hopefully get pics up tonight

There is a dude on here (rcmt) called Hammer and he uses the DTX escs and he had the 8T in his Spider.

The specs are kickass for sure and the price is low too. I plan to get the 8T for my Clod too...

It was Hammers thread that gave me the idea to try the 8T. Just seems that alot of the crawlers are using the TR2, I've also seen the Moped ESC really getting popular. But you can only get them on e-bay, and I don't have pay-pal

The name Duratrax is usually a deterrent for me too. I swore I would never buy anything sold by Duratrax after having 2 crappy chargers.

But I think Duratrax has gotten better lately. I know that some of their chargers are rebadged and quite good, and I read that the Intellispeed ESCs are rebadged Novak products. I read that in the Internet so it's probably not even true. But still, I've only read postive things about the Intellispeed ESCs and the specs are great.

It seems like a lot of guys are smoking the Rebel 2 when they use dual high torque servos + lathe motors. I've read a few posts on rccrawler to that effect.

You can get the Moped ESCs from www.rcmart.com but I think they require PayPal too since they are in Hong Kong. Maybe they take credit card I don't know... They are more expensive then eBay though. Shipping is pretty high if I remember right...

Dinball RC on eBay is the same as rcMart.com but rcMart charges more on shipping and sometimes the product price is higher too...
