Building a Barbarian

CPE makes machined links and sway bars like on your Spider-Man truck for the barbarian. I have them and they are pretty sporty.

Yeah I'm thinking of getting a set of those. The ones the chassis come with seem too stiff.

With one week until race day, I'm finishing up a few small things. I found a way to eliminate all of the slop in the steering link. I moved the anchor point from the bolt on attachment to the knuckle. I had to extend the steering link by adding some spacers and a longer threaded rod on each side. This seems to help a lot. The linkage is a poor design in my opinion, but I'm guessing it's this way to clear stock SMT10 or Wraith wheels. With the larger Tributes, there is room to clear both rod ends. I installed the STRC knuckles and c hubs while it was apart. Much better.

I raced this truck on Sunday. It did okay, was eliminated in the second round in a close race to a very fast competitor. The suspension definitely needs some tweaking, as its way too bouncy. I'm using only 90 mm shocks which could be part of the problem too. I also have the machined lower links for this which I'll try to see if link mounted shocks soften it up a little.

Also finally received the Boom racing axle tubes. Going to install these and tune the suspension for the next race in two weeks.
