Worked some more on this project... hopefully it will be finished soon. I wanted to do something different with the cantilevers, the real truck has these mustard yellow shocks, obviously this isn't an exact replica but I want to mimic certain features. So I switched these out and at the same time, put oil in the shocks and hooked up the wheels with THESE COOL and SIMPLE Panetaries.
I picked these little babies up from TOM, TXT-2.0, they are simply little bottle caps that he cuts from their container and then uses a silver sharpie to make the detail. I picked up two sets of these from him and they are the coolest thing.
When doing work of this magnitude you need to bring in a support staff... tongue sticking out while working a must
You need to clean off the wheels. I use COWRC, moo-tor degreaser and cleaner- I spray a little bit on the cloth and then wipe off the inside. I do this because I am looking for a decent bond using the goop silicone adhesive and wheel. I have shop rags that I use to wipe everything up so following up with a degreaser from COWRC is a good idea.
Here I simply put the goop on the ring and center on the wheel around the little molded nuts. I just center it by eye and haven't been disappointed yet. Just look at the distance between the ring inside diameter and the molded nuts- North, South, East, West all look to be about the same distance- good enough for me.
You may notice a little bit of goop outside the ring- now is the time to simply wipe it away with your finger before it dries. NOW THE TEMPTATION WILL BE TO TIGHTEN UP THE LIDS AND LOOK AT THE COOL PLANETARIES... don't do that, let the adhesive dry first- wait a little longer than your first instinct. I moved on to a couple other projects and then came back and looked at the final product. BANGO ready to go
