Brushless Questions

Now after a lot of grifl with trying to get a suitable speed control for the Turkey Raffle truck i won, i've campe to the conclusion that brushless is my best bet as lots of torque with more run time on a low kv motor.

There are a few options out there, but in the UK any of novak's systems are far too expensive and so are castle creations. I have sourced some other systems.

One is a 1200kv motor and esc. Sensored i beleive. Would it provide enough torque so i could gear the truck to go approx 7=8mph or would that overload the esc?. or overheat the motor?
Since i need to buy an esc and a motor i decided brushless would be best as not much price different, but i want more of a scale type crawler/trail rig and not a full on 2mph rock crawler

Any suggestiopns are welcomed

Hmmmm, I not to sure what you can find there in the UK, but there is this company out of canada, i started dealing with and lately my hobby shop decided to pic this up for an Axail crawler, They havent had any problems that I know of, and John (my hobby shop owner) really like it and claims its one of the best crawler systems he has purchased, its programable with presets that come on a card, so if your looking to set up anything outside of the normal programs built in the ESC, I guess you have to purchase the card from them. But no pressure, check it out and see!?
My personal dealing wit them have been connectors and voltage meters which have been solid with no issues. I am most likely going to by there 1/10 racer version and check it out.

I have been looking at ones similer to this. If it get it imported from ASIA there are no cusom charges. But with custom charges. it's not worth my while ordering from anywhere else.

When using that speed control, does it have a lot of torque? Also does the motor get very warm or does the speed control?

What top speeds do you estimate, and does it struiggling when pushing the vehicle up rocks and stuff?

I heard a rumour i can't use 27mhz when i go to brushless, is this true?

I had a traxxas VXL in it, gear it low and it can put along and not cog like some other systems. Then when punched it would wheelstand even though top speed was only about 15mph on lipo 7.4v

What would you think of these cheaper ebay brushless systems?
I could get a crawler one and gear it moderate to see what happens, and i could also get a 18t brushless and gear it low and see how i got on

Slow enough to crawl if needed, but fast enough to get a few inch of air or to go slighter than walking.
Not wanting to totally bust the bank

Even contemplating getting a 10b HPI buggy and using the esc and speedo and firing some cheap brishless into that

The link above is a company called HobbyWing. I have heard nothing but good stuff from them. No cogging, smooth throttle, great control and fully programmable.

Oh yea, and little bit more inexpensive. :tmb

Hobbywing has become very popular recently. I have heard good reports so far about them.

One of the ones i was looking at was rebadged hobbywing.
Wondering if i can get away with gearing a 1200kv motor to 7-8mph but enough torque to crawl with.

The Terminator truck will soon be having some action pictures, with some minor mods

Softer Traxxas White Springs
2.2 Flat iron,s on route
New shell (the Termiantor shell will be for any comps and pictures)
And i guess that's all for now ...maybe paint the servo links and lower links black and put on silver beadlocks to provide a more scale look
Will include lead weights so will have an approx 1/10 weight also

No waterproofing, as it it'll end up like my Wheely King - ie, full bearing replacement required, so no water for the x trail
