Brushless motor choice

Hey guys, so im doing a digger buld and im torn between motors. For starters i bought a mamba monster esc yesterday so thats what im using for the brain. But as far as muscle im not sure. This truck is pretty heavy with the aluminum beadlocks and the brass chassis so im thing about going full 8th scale and just use the castle creations 2650kv motor. is that overkill for a txt-1 based tuber? or should i go with one of the 10th scale motors (i need a suggestion since there is so many of then). I think is a custom tranny and its only setup for one motor. Pics added so you can see. also do you think this drivetrain can handle the 8th scale motors?

TXT axles will not be able to handle 1/8th power and that weight , i would use twin force axles from Super Shafty and one brushless motor is all you need for a current build .

i use a VXL in my New era tuber with a emaxx trans and its more than fast enough for the size and weight its pushing

if you stick to a 2s or nimh under 9 cells a 2650 will be fine
I run a 1/8th scale 2600 in my red chassied TXT and stock trans with no issues on 2s lipo

See I was thinking more like 4s lolol. But 2s it is. I could probably gear it pretty high also if I ran 2s.

I think I have a 14 tooth pinion in mine and speed is decent, not ballistic but nowhere near slow
Longer can motors have gobs of torque and will easily propel it on 2s to good results

The setup you have won't hold up to the kind of power/abuse you're talking about. Very well built brass tube chassis'(there aren't many out there) can take a lot of punishment but even then they have their limits. The gears in that Engle style trans won't like being run under high torque and high rpms for very long and the mounts look weak. The stock TXT driveshafts don't even hold up to stock motors in the stock setup so don't expect much out of them. And last, if the beadlocks you are talking about are the RC4WD ones, then there is almost no setup that can handle running those heavy things. They're pretty much for slow going show rigs unless you want to keep breaking parts or that chassis.

Moderate power, like a 17.5 brushless motor, is what I would run in that setup. But I still wouldn't run the RC4WD beadlocks.

^^I was thinking the same thing too...those brass tube chassis's wont take too much power...Is that the one that was on ebay For $500 something??

I only used a 540 brushless system and 2s lipo on my tuber and its made from steel tubing...Tubers arent really meant to be bashed hard anyway. Looking forward to see what you do with it tho..

ive snapped more than a few half shafts in my TXT axles when i had the RC4WD wheels :emot106:

thats why i recommended the twin force axles , Rick can make them to handle some serious power but the weight this thing will have im uncertain about .....it will weigh a ton :emot100:

and agree with ay Kent those drive shafts will not hold much if any power .....get some revo shafts at minimum
