Brushless Clod Setups

I'm trying to decide whether to run dual Traxxas 3500 Velineon motors, dual Caslte 4600's, or dual Castle 5700's.

As for the ESC's, I will be using Castle since they can be run parrallel with no shenanigans....Also, I kinda got a bunch. My question is could I use dual Sidewinders or would I have to go with Mamba Maxes. I'm hoping I can get away with Sidewinder as they're soooo much cheaper. I really want to put the Mamba Maxes in other trucks (one per truck).

i'd go either casltes actually. i can understand to appealing price of the sidewinder but i'd just do it right and go mamba max. jut my $.02

Probaly have seen im using dual mamba max's 4600's and dual lipos altho I run 1 lipo at times if im just gonna run it a short time. I cant comment if the sidewinders will be ok might be a question for Joe at castle but the mambas have been flawless for me.:tmb

SIDEWINDERS WILL BE FINE. That's what Mo uses in his and there are no problems. I'd reccomend either the VXL3500 or castle 4600 as they'll both have much more torque than the 5700, perfect for your clodbuster.

Thanks for the responses, guys. Renegade, I'm glad to hear the Sidewinders will work fine. God bless America, and God bless Mo for testing.

What pinions do you guys recommends, or am I good with the 13T stockers (aftermarket pinionsof course).

I was looking into a dual brushless setup also except I was planning on running dual tekin R1 pro 5800s. What do I have to do to get them to run since castle doesnt need the other "shenanigans".

I am using the 13t pinions in mine and its got plenty of speed and torque to move the imex kong tires with ease. Far as hooking up 2 esc's just need a Y harness for them so you can plug them both in the rx. I also wired my 2 switches together so I only have to flip one switch on for both :tmb

Like Savage03 said, a y-harness is what you need. The Castle ESC's are designed to be run in parallel, so you can just add the y-harness and plug it into the receiver. Other manufacturers are different. I don't know of another make that can be run parallel without going through the nonsense of disconecting one of the receiver leads on the second ESC.

Sweet deal. Unfortunately I wasnt able to find a deal like that when I was shopping. But now I have my chassis coming.

Don't even talk to me about chassis:-( I've got this JPS sitting here, but then I all can think about is a powder-coated CPE Stallon. But I spent my Stallion money on brushless. Get a sweet, realistic chassis, or get maintenence-free, blistering performance, power, and speed? You just can't win in r/c:ack

No you definitely cant win. There are so many options but not enough funding. I had to fix my 1:1, and just found out that someone hit my 08 Jeep GC and didnt leave a note. So sneaking in my RC is a little tricky...lol.

I'm currently running Mamba Max 5700s in my Clod... and with 15t pinions it still has way more grunt than it's ever had... Heck, I can bunny hop the thing! :tmb

But it NEEDS some kind of limited slip diff in there when on snow/ice, lol...

And probably for any kind of low traction surface, really...

2S LiPo rocks!

A sealed fluid tuned diff would be awesome!
Never going to have one, but it would be nice...
