Bigfoot Wheelie King Update

Finally got paint

I finally got the body back for my son's Bigfoot Wheely King. Terry Plum did an absolutely fantastic job. It took a long time, but it was well worth the wait. Terry's been battling some health issues, so keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

You'll notice I had to change bodies. I loved the old Venom body, but I screwed it up when I was trying to cut out the flames. I just didn't have a steady enough hand to cut nice smooth flames, especially where they loop back to the next streamer. I cut into the plastic, and I didn't want to risk ruining the paint job with crappy flames. I searched and searched, and couldn't find another Venom F350 body. So I ended up with a Team Blue Groove/ex Parma Bigfoot body. I just like the proportions of the Venom body better. The paint on this one makes up for it though. Now I just have to finish up the decals.:D

Thanks Tom. Yeah, the inside lighting and flash really don't do it justice. The paint is awesome. I may want take this truck over from my son... he he, just kidding.:D He's really proud of it. This has got me really wanting to finish my own. I just change my mind too much. I was working on an Outlaw, then another Bigfoot, then a retro style AM/PM Boss, and some others. I just want too many. lol

This is one of the best looking WK's I've seen to date. Awesome truck!

Photo tip - if your camera has an ISO setting or "indoor" mode, use it. Either that or manually set it for longer shutter and turn the flash off. Use a tripod to eliminate blur and you will be money.

Wow this build is awesome! I really have to do the sway bar setup you did, just never have the time to actually do it. What length links did you do? Your driveshaft angles and Wheelbase are perfect!

Tyler:

When I had the Venom F350 body on this truck, the wheelbase was 11-1/8". When I changed to this body, I had to shorten the wheelbase to about 10-3/4 to 10-7/8 for it to look right. Plus I had to trim the fenders to sort of stretch the wheel centers on the body. Otherwise, even the 10-3/4" wheelbase would have looked too long for this body. If you check my old original Wheely King thread, there's info there on the 4-links and lengths I used. http://www.rcmt.net/forums/showthread.php?25760-Finally-took-the-plunge

The wheelbase in that thread comes out to 11". If you need a longer wheelbase, just add half the additional distance you need front and back.

I finally got the decals done for my son's Bigfoot Wheely King. I used some white vinyl decal paper that Curt Poucket on the Shafty RC Facebook group suggested. I also got the clear vinyl layer to put on top of them, to protect them from water. It was pretty time consuming putting the graphics together, scaling the decals properly, and getting them all placed on the truck. I think it turned out pretty nice for my first attempt though. I still can't get over this paint job from Terry Plum and the TMF. Absolutely beautiful.

The lettering on the tires is freehand, so it's not perfect. It turned out ok though. I did cheat a little. I had a decal that I placed above where I wanted to letter, and used it as a guide. I used a white paint pen for the letters.

Those Firestone letterings came out awesome! Nobody's able to tell those are freehanded unless you point that out!:cool
