Big Brute People??

Hi,

I just found this site, it's really cool that you guys have a vintage area! But, no one seems to be lighting this bad boy up yet, do any of you have Big Brutes?? (or Big Boss/hi rider vette/double dares)?

This was the first r/c vehicle that I bought myself when I was a kid and I wanted to fix it up recently, but apparently I got my money's worth out of it because it's just trashed...

Anyway, I have a couple of them now, a driver, and one that I am restoring the hard way (piece by piece) and I just wanted to see if anyone else collected these old Kyosho's...

Say "hi" if you do-

I have owned a big brute, and Double Dare s well as a USA1

The big brute sat so long the tires melted to the cement floor it was sitting on. :bang They are all long gone now, though I still have the DD's fake plastic motor to put on something.

The big brutes were a real oddball truck, and since kyosho never really had the parts support other companies had it was basicly a failure. The big toy like front bumper didn't help it's looks either.

The USA1 did get support for a while, and many of those parts were interchangeable with the above mentioned trucks. But now even those parts have really dried up. The USA1 had real potential with Sassy Chassis parts, but Sassy closed up. The parts rocked, but hard to make and since the truck wasn't as popular as say a clod or pede nobody else has taken over making them.

Sassy Stretch DXS USA-1, and a few DDs, and another USA-1. I love my Sassy USA-1. I plan on making a full tilt Sassy one of these days.

Welcome to the boards:tmb

I don't know if I would call them failures myself, I mean they weren't racing trucks, and bashers weren't as popular then as they are today (tmaxx, etc changing that).

They had some support from Thorp who did complete drive trains for them, Sassy Chassis, Hobbico made some aluminum hubs and a couple of other things I think, and some tire options... but yeah, nothing like the aftermarket support that the clod buster got.

I would agree that the front bumper is very toyish looking, but when I was 12 years old beating that Brute into the ground, that thing was invaluable to me-lol. And a lot of the trucks back then were fairly toyish, like the MRP hi-roller, varicom Big Grizzly, and the Royal Crusher...

Anyway, if anyone has any old parts/trucks that they don't want please let me know I am interested in buying them. Especially hi-rider corvette bodies and any optional parts listed above.

Love this site!

p.s.- William, I just checked out your website, nice!

I edit video too, (my job) and I have a final cut pro set up at home on a power mac g5, I'm not real familiar with editing on a pc, tho'. Dabbled a little with Pinnacle liquid chrome, but definitely not a pro...

hiya

I've got 3 Kyosho Nitro Brutes, and still looking for more! The NB is like a BB, only with enough balls to destroy its own gearbox :willy

Also one Double Dare.

If anyone knows of a Nitro Brute available gimme a holler!

The early range of Kyosho trucks looked the goods, but parts back up was almost non existent and the handling is terrible!

Love 'em :ack

sweet truck

in other news, now have 4 Nitro Brutes..

and 3 Big Brutes...

and a whole bunch of parts...

I just got a sidewinder for my wheelie king crawler project. I'm gonna have to put it in the Hi-rider with my speed gems 13t and see how it likes it.
