Hey now I started the brushed way for a long time lol, not to mention my clod has seen many frame changes, from the zilla line, new era, bennett and couple rippers but 2 years ago when I went to the coast with it and my motors didnt make it 5mins it was settled BL all the way :drool

lookin' good man! The TXT chassis was a good choice :) Multiplex + EVX2 + 2 nimh packs = old school? lol Yeah I've been gone a while :tong That combo with Kongs should be crazy fun! Good thing the Clod gearbox is so stout!

I totally plan on getting a Clod some day when things settle down and I have some money to burn.

hey Kenny!
glad to hear from ya. hope you come back more often.

i went through my old pics and searched some of your posts and saw your clod on a txt chassis.
thats what got this whole thing started.

as for being "old school", it seems as though evryone is brushless and lipos nowadays!?!
:willy
ive still got about a half dozen of these old multiplex 600s, so im gonna use 'em til they die.

got a little more done.
wired the motors, installed a servo (not sure if it works yet)
found a txt battery box and fabbed an electronics tray.
should be basically ready for a test.
ive got some packs charging; maybe ill get a run in tomorrow after work!

here are some pics of the current state:

and here are a few with a parma 'digger body for referance
(i figure thats a pretty common body that most will recognize):

thanks Savage.

...looked over my clod today and the limiters held!
glad to hear it worked; they look good to me.
i had a brain-storm this morning to use some small chain i found at lowes.
ill show how it comes out.

i was able to charge my packs last night and power it up... it moves.
it was tested on the floor in my kitchen with no steering at midnight, so no real test.
the servo is crap so i gotta see what i have in the bin.
i still need to make the steering rod and actually program the exv2.

also, it looks as though im gonna need some longer pinions.
the robinson 10t ones that i have only grab the armature by about 1/8", but they hold and spin true.
but when they mesh with the gears they only contact about 2/3 on the width of the gears.
i think this could cause issue; what do you guys think?
spend another $10-15 and not have to worry?
:bang

yeah, thats a 1/10 parma Grave Digger.
i figure its one of the most used and recognized MT bodies around.
im not using it on this; just wanted to show how big this thing is.

well, got to take it for a little test run.
overall im impressed. its fairly quick for such a large rig.
i definitely need a servo; this one wobbles pretty fierce, especially when in reverse.

drove it around from pavement to grass and up curbs with no issues.
did a couple full throttle launches and it held up fine.
tried to get some video, but it was dark out and youtube ruins them more, so videos are mostly sound.

then the fun part; wait for it...

the after math.

:bang

also, im gonna get those long pinions. the ones ive got really dont wanna stay on.
i need to get some clear case covers and now i need to install an axle tube and hub, but ive got those.
then i guess ill get the body.

i dont know yet.
this was supposed to be a "budget" build!?!
besides, if an idiot didnt drive it in the dark with a crap servo it probably wouldnt be an issue!
at least all the aluminum bits and braces held up, so just a few stock pieces to change.

:shk ouch that had to hurt ! well at least you have the parts to fix it.....if not i have a pair of hubs if you needed them :tmb

looking really good Joe :tmb Shame on the crash. :-(

So, you know instead of long pinions the VXL motors have a long armature shafts, and some castle ESC's, and some hardcase lipo packs, a titanium gear servo, and integy aluminum trans case and axle tubes.

Hey, I'm pretty good at spending your mortgage payment :laugh
