thanks!
im pretty excited about this one... and i might actually fininsh it!?!
:willy

-shock mounts are comming.

-ordered some inner C braces and machined lock outs from CPE, so i should get those soon.
i was just gonna use the ol' 1.5" washer lockout trick, but i really like the look of Brett's machined lock outs.

-bought some thundertech adjustable motor mounts and some 10t pinions on ebay,
so hopefully ill get those soon, too.

that should pretty much be it for parts.
i have evrything else to get this running.
i will need to make my final decision on body after i get the wb set properly.
im pretty sure its gonna be a slach baja bug body.

Who makes the widners? Looking around to see if their anything that stretches further then the thunder tech ones im using, the kongs are so tall they would look better with some space from the frame least on mine it would.

Brett is always great to deal with, maybe send him a pm.
mine extend 1" on each side.

got a little more done.

cleaned up the rear end with some CPE rear lock-outs:

also got my lower link/shock mounts installed:

the front side of the rear axle looks pretty smooth.
even without the kongs it shouldnt get hung up.

i was really hoping to be farther along but im still waiting on parts.
my ebay stuff is taking to long and my front inner c braces are on back order.
:bang
so maybe next week ill have my roller?!?

The jumbo kong tires suck. :tmb They look cool but that it. They wreck the tmaxx driveline real fast.

Well its far from a tmaxx thank god :ack My only complaint with them is I got a badly molded tire and customer support is 0 so im stuck with a out of round tire :bang
Truck is looking good btw :tmb

thanks Savage!
its getting there.

and as for the tires "sucking", i guess it all comes down to what youre doing with them.
seeing as how they kill the tmaxx, id say that the tmaxx sucks!?!
:tong

in Savage's case, he got a bum deal with his tires.
i expect that mine will be perfect for this rig.
more to come...

Yea wouldnt even cared but contacting Bill at imex was a waste of time I even offered to send them back for them to look at if they didnt believe me but he just plain didnt bother to respond. So im debating what to do, waiting to see if maybe rc4wd comes out with something even a tad less tall would be nice to. Cant bring myself to buy 2 more lol but after this weekend I will see how they do in the sand and how noticeable the bad spot is in rough stuff.
So you gonna try some limiter straps? :tmb:laugh

probably. it really looks like most (almost ALL) of the weight is going to be in the tires.
im not really to concerned about suspension and shock bounce;
i just dont wanna rip the shocks apart on the down stroke.

Looking good Mister Joe :tmb

This is going to be big, huge, ginourmouse, titanic, EPIC :willy
thanks, Bill; you cRazy!?!

Exactly my same concern cause on the scale those brutes were like a 1lb a piece or something like that, have to refer back to my thread to see but it was alot. Plus I got all the metal tubes/cases and metal gears inside so their is some weight there. Just need some pics of it done to get the light bulb to come on cause I cant get a idea sparked lol old age does that sometimes :ack

Maybe you could take a look at RC4WD's Demolisher 4.0 tires. Perhaps you might have better luck with them, then with the kongs.

how do you mean? are you referring to Savage's issue?
also, those tires are nearly 10" tall and almost 6" wide?!?
i cant even imagine a truck that those would look right on.

Yes I was. I suppose to have a truck that the demolisher tires would look good on, someone would have to build one from scratch, and design it around the tires.

yeah. probably 5th or 6th scale would look good.
also it would probably need wider axles than clods or TXTs.

i think mine will be more of an exagerrated 8th scale or so.
