Best RC MT for a newbie!

I read through the RCMTC rulebook and about the only thing that you'll be limited to is the battery you're allowed to run. 2s in all classes except open, and that is 3s limit. Not sure if the Mad Force VE can run on less than 4S, so you'd be looking at a motor and ESC swap to compete in organized events.

The description says that it was running on one 2s battery.

The Mad Force is eligible for 4WD Pro Modified and 4WD Shaft Drive if you are considering the NRCTPA.

Okay, sorry to bring a semi-dead thread back to life, but I've essentially just looked at a bunch of stuff and found out what I thought was cool and didn't, and I THINK I know what I want. Either a Wheely King, or a Ground Pounder. I'm somewhat expecting a WK preference here but still any answer is preferred.

I'd just like a cool starter RC thats a monster that could hopefully be built into something cool and respectable. Thanks guys.

Either choice would be a good one. I have read a lot of issues with the GP as far as the radio/electronics are concerned.

There are pros and cons with either truck. With the WK you're going to have a smaller truck out of the box. The GP is closer to a Clodbuster sized truck and is closer to a race truck right out of the box. The WK requires additional investment to both lengthen and widen it to get it closer to GP size. Both trucks have weak points. The WK has an edge in aftermarket support. I guess comes down to what you are going to primarily do with the truck and how much you want to invest after the initial purchase.

I have owned 4 Wheely Kings and have zero experience with the GP, so maybe a GP owner can chime in on this.
