This is a 755 cubic inch Jacobs similar to the one I had to rebuild and run for my A&P license

I have always been fascinated by those rotary (not sure of proper term) engines. I always wanted to get my hands one one and tear it down to see just whats going on inside of it, especially the lubrication system and trying to keep oil out of those bottom pistons.

It uses a dry sump system, a preasure pump and a scavenge pump. Before you start the engine you hand turn the prop to make sure there is no ''liquid lock'' from the oil or fuel.

Even still when it first fires up a radial will smoke pretty good until it gets to normal operating temps. Between the oil, and it's designed with clearences that come in when warm there is oil consumption.
