Batteries and Pinion Question?

So this is what I am getting to run on my dagger. On order from tower hobbies.

Traxxas Titan 550 Motor E-Maxx (times 2)

HPI GT Speed Controller E-Savage

What teeth pinions should I be using with this setup to get the most speed as possible? What affordable batteries should I be using with this setup as I intend to wire them with the most power as possible?

Other upgrades will include oil shocks and aluminum shock towers (I think they will extend the distance by 1"), ball raced, Aluminum front and rear knuckles, CVD's to avoid losing dogbones and that is about it.

Any suggestions or help with this would be greatly appreciated.:willy

In my opinion the Titans are major overkill on a Dagger. I've always thought they were overkill on a Clod because they produce more torque than your ever going to be able to use so on an even lighter Dagger it's even worse.

My theory, especially with Daggers, is to keep them light. If you keep it as light as possible you'll get decent speed and save on parts breaking. For a longtime I ran 23T Tamiya Sport Tuned motors, stock 18t pinions, and a 6 cell NiMH pack and it was a great little basher truck. I recently put some used 17T venoms and am now running it on 2s lipo and it flies. It's running at about the limit that the chassis/suspension can reasonably handle.

Now as far as gearing, without an adjustable motor mount, your stuck with either 18t or 20t pinions so if your running the titans go with the 20t. Remember though you'll need metric 48p gears.

Sorry, I am a little new with upgrades what do you mean by 48p?

oops, sorry about that. It means 48 pitch. Most off road trucks use either 48 pitch gears(48p) or 32 pitch gears(32p). But the Wild Dagger uses a metric 48 pitch pinion gear which is slightly different from the regular 48 pitch gears.

Sorry I hate to ask again and again stupid questions but what you are trying to tell me is that I need a 20t metric pinion gear? Is that right?

Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it as I try to read up on this stuff as much as possible but pinion motor and esc stuff always confuses me as to what combinations produce what. Cheers to you. :hi5

It's been a while since I owned a Wild Dagger, but I thought they used 32 pitch pinions?

So now I need to figure out how to fit two batteries on the chassis. Someone said to cut a hole in the chassis above the other battery slot but it seems to me that it might compromise the integrity of the chassis at that point. Any tips hints or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
