Basement track

i made some jumps out of some outside carpet turned over and laid it down on the track in the desired shape. put some duct tape down so the edge wasn't so drastic and it works nice.

the walmart mats are a inexpensive way to make a small track like mine. i wonder if i sprayed textured paint it would be like the rcp track ?

heres a pic of my DT

it looks a bit different now as i slammed the body. i just have to take pics of it.

That's a nice looking DT there twisted!:tmb

Another thing about the jumps that I need is they must be easily removable because I plan on using the RCP track for both the micro-t's and the Z's. I don't want to use strong tape on the surface of the track as I am afraid of damaging the texture. Maybe I could add weights to the jumps so they will hold their place.

Originally, I was going to get another Z this weekend and mod it with a lola body. But now all this talk about offroading, I think I might go with a micro-t or DT. But first I need to find some jumps. Another thing that I want to buy is a 2 channel AM stick radio for the Z. I always thought it was cool to drive a car with a stick radio. I think it takes a lot more skills to drive compared to the pistol type. Should be fun learning to drive all over again.:tong

twisted, I have some questions about your DT. What kind of runtimes do you get on one charge? Can the battery be charged on a digital charger instead of the AA's charger it comes with? Lastly, is the stock receiver compatible with other radios?

the run times with the stock pack are about 5 minutes. you can charge the pack with adjustable charger. they make an adapter that goes from stock to a tamiya plug or you could make one yourself.

if you run lipo (the losi lipo) you get like a 1/2 hour or more of run time but my crapped out on me and has to be sent back.

the stock receiver isnt compatible with any other radio as its all integrated with the esc and servo.

Lipo issue

Just so you are aware you CANNOT run a lipo down!!!!!! If the cells go below 3 volts per cell the lipo will likley be ruined! Thats why good setups have built in cutoffs and you can add cutoffs to other systems.

If you drive a lipo till you see the vehicle slowing chances are you just junked that battery. Battery makers can tell this was done and will normally NOT warrenty them. If you try to "save" these lipos that have been run down past 3.0 volts per cell they can catch fire and have burned houses down. This goes double if you can see ANY swelling on the lipo's cells anywhere.

I know this is a lil off topic but its IMPORTANT to know so you do not burn your house down. Plus it might save a LOT of loot in ruined Lipos! Bill

I was looking for something that is cheap and easy to get into without all the modding because I wanted to get the other guys racing them too. But in the end, Mini-Z's are still more hassle-free.

Now if they made one that uses rechargeble AAA's like the Z's, then I'll reconsider them.:wnk

Just came back from the local mini-z store. They had soooo many parts and bodies in stock...felt like I was in a candy store!:tong

There were a lot of parts, but I didn't know what most did to the car. The owner was very professional in explaining it to me, but I am too newbie to understand fully. So I came home with these instead:tmb

Thanks fastmax! I really think the bodies are really beautiful. The details are amazing. For sure, I will not be running these bodies...unless I get a second one of them. However, the 934 is available in unpainted white. I am looking for a paint scheme right now, maybe I will pick one to paint and play with.

I am really glad to have gotten back into Mini-Z's. The thing I like most about them are the detail bodies. Today, there was also a Mustang GT and a Ford GT40. I think I will pick them up next time!:drool

My track sets came in yesterday, picked them up tonight and took 2.5 hours to add to the original tracks. Ran the cars a while with my friend, it was awesome. The only problem is we are experiencing some jamming. Don't know if it is out of range or because of the pipes. Anyone know any material I can wrap around the pipes that will reduce noise?

The straightaway is 21 tiles, 50cm/tile.

Nice tracks.
I just got a Micro DT and just have been driving it around on tile. Pretty squirrely if you go full throttle.
These little trucks are fun, but one thing with mine I'm not real happy about is the front-right tire is cambered out. It's not real bad, just one of those things.
There's no way to adjust it, so I just set the steering trim but pretty much just have to deal with it.

Maybe if I upgrade stuff to alloy it'll straighten out, but I kinda don't want to. Maybe if something breaks.

As for the lipo packs... does anyone know about how long you can run them before they get low and get damaged?
I got a couple Losi Lipos for mine and these things are like $40 a piece.

I heard there's some cheaper ones, Aeronuts I think, for like $20.
But still, I already spent a bunch on these ones and I'd like to keep 'em for a while.
