The Dodge front clip is relatively new, and was for a sponsor. The cab/SUV sections of the truck are Escalade.

I call shenanigans on that one. On the jump and the body combo...
Good grief did you see the ramp they had to build and then he still nose planted it and couldn't drive it away.
Bigfoot may have flown 20ft shorter, but the truck drove back under its own power and it didn't take a 50 foot high ramp to do the jump.

And don't get me started on a Dodge nose on a Escalade body.
Take the same ramp and set up, give it to Chandler and the boys to set up the truck, and you'll see more distance and a better landing.
And the truck will drive back under its own power..

Long as the takeoff and landing ramps are the same height (which they were), they could both be 100 feet tall for all I care. Having a landing ramp is a lot safer for the driver, and that's all that really matters to me. The nice thing about records is that anyone who wants to can try to better them. I'm sure Bigfoot will be attempting to take it back at some point in the future.

I was waiting for all the experts and critics to pop up from behind their keyboards. Bretts right about the ramp in my opinion. Anyone can build whatever ramp they want their is no rule. The record is the distance.

Really Stu you argue that Bigfoot should be able to jump further...well duh I would hope so. They have quite a few resources and years behind them. Thats one big team that you are talking about there with a bigger budget than Joes. Lets look at Joes truck and its age as well. Broke on landing you say...hmmm how many times have you seen Joey run that truck really hard...only about every time he is out. The guy can drive and is impressive to watch. As for breaking parts get stressed out over time and its going to happen.

Sorry for the rants but it burns me when I see an independant doing something extreme like this and getting beat up for it. Who else but Bigfoot has done it recently. Everyone loves to beat on it but they dont have thier own truck to it with.

Upon landing, yes the front did break. However Joe did drive the truck back to the pits under its own power, broken or not the rule is that the truck must be rolling and it was. Joe certainly made it spectacular and I congratulate him on his new record. Bigfoot though, I've heard they jumped a lot farther than that practicing for the jump they did in Indy to break Joe's old record. These Jump Wars are certainly not over.

To me since it's Guinness' record, they make the rules but I would debate that statement above. If the launch goes off right then yes having a landing ramp is safer. But if the truck blows a motor or somehow loses power before the launch than the it's going to head right into the wrong side of the landing ramp. Since the Bigfoot team has always stressed safety, even at the cost of performance sometimes, I would think they would use a landing ramp if they actually thought it was a clear cut answer. Since #18 and Runte drove away from it's landing pretty much unscathed, and even managed to perform in the freestyle event immediately afterwards, it looks to me like the Bigfoot guy's are still within the their limits of safety.
