This is my Mod Class race truck for the RCMTC-HI race series. I've been running this truck for a few months now and completed the body for our 2010 season finals. I've hesitated posting it up because I wanted the truck to be truely "finished" before I did. What I mean is I wanted the truck "dialed in"(that's a joke for Gavin:tong) first.....
The chassis was originally the JoeWorks v3.0 on my CAT truck but the setup wasn't right so I made changes and Joe cut new plates for that truck. I went with a link mounted setup for this truck which required changes to the chassis which is why this chassis is now v3.1
As anyone who has messed with a TXT race setup knows, any change causes a cascade effect meaning it will affect other parts(placement, operation. etc.) of the setup. When I switched the shocks over from a direct mount to link mount the link geometry had to change which affected servo size and placement which affected the motor placement which affected the battery placement, and so on and so on. It can be overwhelming at times. I've equated designing/building a TXT race truck to putting together a puzzle with no picture on it.
The result has been a truck that has exceeded my expectations. When I first debuted it a few months ago(it had a King Kong body on it then) it immediately came out and won. I've been fine tuning it little by little every race. The suspension is butter smooth and with 120mm shocks link mounted, I have gobs of suspension travel, most of it in droop. I made the mistake of sticking a lipo in it for one race to run it in Outlaw and the motors were never the same after that. I ordered new motors for our Finals but they didn't come in until after. Now with the new motors she's back up to speed in the top tier of our Mod Class, and that's saying something considering the rest of the class is Clods.
Not real happy with the body though. The digital camo was supposed to be black and white but it somehow came out in a reddish brown shade. And the other stickers, like the name, look to plain jane. I'm going to redo them one of these days.
Here's the specs:
Chassis: JoeWorks v3.1
Axles: Tamiya TXT
Transmission: Tamiya TXT
Shocks: Hot Racing 120mm air shocks
Motors: 2 HPI 15T Firebolt motors
Esc: Traxxas EVX
Tires/Rims: Imex Pullers on TXT rims
Body: Axial B-17 "Betty"
other notes: CPE machined lower links, Terminator style swaybar setup, low profile high torque metal gear steering servo
