looks great Jay ..... question though are you planning on painting the inside of the wheels so there white or black or are you going to leave them yellow

Thanks Tom.
I plan on painting them. I still have yet to glue the Yellow pieces onto the rims yet. I need to remove them to primer and paint them. I have the primer, but I have not decided on a color yet. Probably gonna end up Metallic Silver like the centers. IDK just yet. Still in the mock-up phase of the build. White could be an option too...

I love the way you did that clod man...HOLY CRAP!!
Thanks XStatic. That truck was painted using XXX-Main pre-cut vinyl masks and Pactra spray-bombs. I built that truck back in 2003. I used to live in Dallas, Texas back then. I lived in Southern Denton County, just south of Plano, for three years. Thanks for checking out my trucks. -Arco

@Brian34

It is probably registered and has a tag, but the tires are most certainly NOT DOT approved. The fact that it has hydraulic steering definitely means it is not legal to drive on the highway. These type trucks are very common where I grew up in N. Florida. They are purpose built to go muddin' out in the swamp. Almost all of these rigs get trailered out to where they will be wheelin'. They do let them on the road in the local festivals and parades though, along with all the other tractors and tree harvesters. :tong

tube chassis

hey arco, excellent work on the r/c's!!! i do have a few questions if you dont mind. I am building my third clodbuster and am now using new era's tube chassis and was curious as to what you used for the battery tray (it looks likes its holding to stick 7 cells, which is what im running) and did you just fab up a tray for the reciever and such? thanks and keep up the awesome work :tmb

Thanks roog909. Just sharing what I've built and or collected over the years. Actually, there is a new addition to the fleet...

Thanks arnzng. I am running the stock battery tray for the Jugg which is modified to fit the chassis. The stock battery tray will only hold a six-cell stick-pack though and you mentioned using a 7-cell battery. A TXT battery tray will hold seven cells no problem.

I have used a TXT tray before and it works pretty well. It is easier to mount the TXT tray to that style of chassis IMHO. As for an electronics bed, you can make one out of some thin polycarbonate or styrene sheet and mount the electronics to it using double sided servo tape.

Let's see now... time for a little bit of an update.

Been doing a little work on the big Ford lately and here is what I came-up with for the front and rear sway-bars.

Also finished-up cutting, painting, and gluing the wheels together.

Next-up will be some tires...

Thanks for taking look.

Thank you Will. IDK, some of it was pretty tedious, but the wheels came-out better than I had expected IMHO.

Thanks again sir. Made them out of parts I had on hand.

Thanks Dominick. I only have a couple of pics of the OG Jugg, but I will share what I have with you.

I have a few more things to update and share with you guys. Let's see what I'm working on now.

Okay, so I had these tires I wanted to use and the lettering made them look pretty toy-ish, so it had to go. I used a sanding drum on my dremel and gently removed the offending part of the side-wall, then smoothed the entire side-wall surface flat.

Now, rims are complete, sway-bars are fabricated and installed, tires are modified and in-place, but there's something else that needs to be modified... the roll bar.

When I received the roll bar in the mail, the nice mail carrier saw fit to snap the NIP part into three pieces so it would fit neatly into my mailbox. :frusty: Oh well. So I take all the fragments and glue them back together, then stripped the off the crome plating using Castrol Super-Clean. After gluing and stripping the roll bar, I decided to cut 3mm off the legs so the roll bar would sit a bit lower.

It is a small modification, but now the roll bar and the roof of the cab are more in-line with each other. I left the roll bar lights chromed and installed them to get an overall view of what I was now working with.

Thanks for taking a look.

Your New Era Clod/Jugg is something else. Makes me not want to sell mine. That F-350 is a work of art too. Those wheels are off the hook and on deck!

Thanks for the kind words segajeep. Glad you like my work. The new tube truck is slowly coming along. :wnk

Well, I haven't posted in a while... kinda got side-tracked by this other truck. Here's what I am working on nowadays. :D

Juggernaut
Item #58232
(w/ESP aluminium 4-link, sway-bars, steering rods, and cantilevers)

The truck has been up-graded with Juggernaugt 2 axle cases and gears, a Jugg 2 transmission housing and transmission gears, along with full set of Tamiya Hop-Up ball bearings. The chassis also has all the upgrades offered by ESP including sway-bars, ball bearing supported cantilevers w/aluminum pushrods, aluminum extended 4-link kit, and aluminum steering rods. Also included in the deal was the original box, all the original drive-train parts, the original decal sheet, and a few spare parts. After receiving the truck and inspecting it, I did not like all the hardware that the previous owner had used throughout the truck. A lot of the bolt heads were galled-up and semi-stripped, so I swapped every nut and bolt in favor of all-new genuine Tamiya hardware. :tmb Currently, I am in the middle of stripping and restoring the body.

My goal is to restore the body to a box-art state. Got the bed stripped and primed, now it is time to do the same to the cab. :)

The truck still needs some work, but hopefully I get a few things in my stocking this year :wish to help make the old Jugg a runner again.

Thanks for taking a look,

:trk Well, I have been working on mostly non-4X4 vehicles and there hasn't been a whole lot of progress to post on here, but picking up this OG :tami should get me back into posting the 4X4 stuff again.

Let's see now... Christmas is here and that means Arco has a few new items to help get the old truck going again... :pics

IDK man... somehow I managed to get a bunch of goodies this year! Two new Check Point hand wound 14 turn single motors from Phantom, as well as a Futaba receiver, crystal, and servo. Got some no-solder leads and a new antenna tube in my stocking too. This was definitely a good holiday for the Arco household!

Best wishes to everyone for a happy and prosperous New Year.

nice haul
The good reliable brushed motors are getting harder and harder to find in proper sizes.
Thanks william g.

Yes, finding a matching set of brushed, open-endbell, mod motors is getting pretty difficult. They simply do not make them anymore. I need to start stocking up on arms and brushes for the motors that I already have before they are all gone as well. :-(

Been working on the Jugg installing the motors, electronics, and such.

Got everything all wired-up and charged a battery so I could test out my handy-work. The weather was pretty bad outside, but I did manage to get quick test run in. :trk

Not much of a run, but enough for a good test, and the new electronics worked well. It sure does have a ton of torque-twist with the cantilevers though. I will have to work on taming that.

Thanks for taking a look
