Sorta tossing the idea around to get rid of all my TXT's and Clods and such and get me a HPI 5B Baja. Anyhere have one or have a buddy who does?? Gimme some input on what you like and dislike and what needs to be added in terms of "must haves". I know the muffler is a a good start for power but some of those pipes are $$$. A good two smoke pipe will do wonders but I want to see a mag do some pipe comparisons. I also feel the outerwears covers are a good idea on the airfilter and the cooling air intake. The shocks already have shaft covers on them so thats good. How are they otherwise???
I emailed Losi as I bet they are working on a gas monster as well and it should be able to do some serious damage. More power and less weight would be thier two first targets as well as more travel. But they have not responded (no surprise there) Anyways who here has drove a Baja and what did you think? If you have one you wish to part with maybe we can talk if you are into monster truck stuff. I have a baja and I love it..:tmb It is one of the simplest RC's I have ever owned...It is ALOT up front (got mine off ebay for $839+ shipping...),then another grand into it..:shk and it is even funner...:willy
I have put about a gallon thru it in stock form, and it is a handful to drive and you HAVE to have a LARGE area to really open it up....Sure beats nitro's hand down...I charged it the day I got it and that was almost a month ago, havent had a lick of trouble.45 mins runtime out of one tank,$3.00 a gallon sure beats $25 a gallon:wnk
I have waiting a 27cc big bore kit, chrome kit, pipe, different color wing/bead locks, spare parts, turtle diff housing,40 series adapters w/integy beadlocks wheels/moab XL's in front and moabs in rear, new body, going to tear it down and send it off to be anodized dark blue.Waiting for big shafted RC4wd shocks to be released, and HOPEFULLY the two speed...and there are some things that people are making that I am going to throw together:wnk no use buying what I can make..:tong
You can visit www.hpibajaforum.com(please correct me if I cant post websites..)and find out EVERYTHING happening w/the baja..and make sure when you buy one its a "newer" serial number w/new wheels and newer style clutch bell, and upgraded arms..

Good stuff

Sounds good. I have yet to see one run other than in a online video. (Was in Dumont Dunes in California. I do not know but I think they were hopped up. They flew for very large distances off dunes and would hold catwalks (long wheelies)over every lip. If they were stock I wanna see powered up!!!) I have raced in the NR/CTPA when I could (work always used to get in the way) but it is a bit of work to get there and all and as a fellow RCer pointed out its a LOT of money for a little run time. I am now near the Dunes in Michigan and may be moving out west in the fall if this does not get better. Anyways I want to get one and paddle it (tire speak of course) for the sand dunes as you see a lot of guys messing with RC in there. I am sure HPI Baja's have been in there. I will look over the link you provided as I can tell I have a lot to learn. I have heard of a couple things they need corrected from the factory but not all. I just think I would have a lot more fun with a big buggy like that near the house anymore. I was wondering how the drivetrain holds up to extra power? I had no idea about the two speed. Nice! I also like the front brake option but I think it should be standard. To much buggy to be hitting things fast! Thanx Bill

I have one I bought it last fall when they first came out. I have one from the first production run. HPI was full aware of the rear wheels not having enough bracing in them and the foams were also bad on the first production run ones. All I had to do is call HPI and give them my serial number off the car and they shipped me new stronger wheels and foams once they fixed the problem. Mine is all stock except for a very bright led light kit I put on. I have not had any problem with it other than breaking a spark plug and the protective brace above it. It only broke because I was board in the winter and took it out and was jumping it off the snow bank at the end of the driveway when it caught the lip of the jump and rolled in the air upside down and fell about 10ft into the middle of the street on its top. It was very cold outside about 10 deg we were in my heated garage with the door open driving it so to only brake the plug and a small brace I was very impressed. It jumps great and turns very sharp for its size. I have hit curbs, trees, the garage, and a couple fences and never broke anything else other than a front arm when I was racing it and went off a jump a little crooked and the front tire got cought in the fence that was on the side of the track. Who builds a track with pig fence around it what a idiot I never went back. It is slow than some nitros but at least you can run longer and don't have to constantly tune and check the temp. Plus if they make you mad you can just run them over.
