i just went out and bought one. its dark out so after changing the plugs over to deans i tried it in the house.it has alot of clod stall and the steering is sloppy but it seems it will work good with some minor mods.

ill get it out on the rocks tomorrow and see how it does.

I didn't think much of this truck until I went looking for videos after seeing this thread.
I've been sticking to more popular manufacturers like HPI and Traxxas.

After watching what videos there was on youtube, this truck seems pretty damn cool.
I'm still a novice, but the only thing I see weak with this truck is the 380 motors. Not entirely keen on the 1/14 scale, either.
I like big numbers, and these seem a little lame compared to other trucks. But that's not saying this truck isn't good.
RTR comes with two 380 motors, dual motor and dual battery ESC, 4 wheel steering, hardened steel axles and no diffs.
The tires look pretty good too, kinda resemble Moab's.

It definitely sounds like a cool, smaller, crawler.

Here's the video I found... though I still would like to hear what Twisted8 has to say about his.

a small review......

1st off the motors are fine. the truck crawls real well. i was impressed.BUT... the dog bones need to be shimmed in the cups or they pop out and it has clod stall.

maybe some of you guys in here can teach me some on how to take care of that ??

Without getting technical(because I cant),its an electric differential system thats not a good thing. The front motor gets more power leaving the rear weaker in high traction situations causing the rear motor to "stall" not spin. |Im sure someone could explain it better but im more of a layman's term kind of person.
|My neighbor has one of these its pretty cool but kind of toyish. If it holds up ill give it a 2 thumbs up,he already had to shim his front shafts. Those almost right away started failing. The kids love it but its a little fast for what it is.

One of the tricks I've heard that helps alleviate the stall problem on the Clod is to run a pinion in the front axle with one less tooth. For example if you're running an ten tooth pinion in the rear axle you should run a nine tooth in the front. I've never tried it but from what I hear it helps but doesn't completely eliminate the stall.

i though it was the opposite ?smaller pinion in the rear ??

A common practice in RC tanks is to replace the 370 motors with 400 motors for more power and torque. The goal is to get the tanks to run slower, closer to scale, with more power. It is a great mod and should do the same for these trucks. The goal is to get the tanks to run slower, closer to scale, with more power.
