Anyone Collect Knives?

I have 6 plus a sharp ninja star and a little axe. I wouldn't say I collect them, but I buy them with no intention of using them... They just sit in my tool box.

I got a bunch of sharp pointy objects! No pics of any of them yet...

I have an Excalibur replica, a bloodrayne replica and several various survival, swiss army and sheath knives. Plus a couple unique machetes. I work out with the excalibur every now and then... really freaks out the neighbors! LOL!

I used to work with a guy that was a die hard knife collector. He mainly collected Randall Knives. He actually wrote a pocket colelctor's guide on how to date any Randall knife and he just finished a big book on the subject. Here's his business website:

Here in Cali it's illegal to carry or sell butterfly knifes/switch blades/throwing stars. But of course you can still find them for sale and people still carry them. I don't know how stiff the penalty is...

I bought the butterfly knives, throwing star, and survival knife at Smokey Mountain Knife Works in Tennessee. They claim to be the worlds largest knife showcase, and after seeing their GAINT 3-level store, I have no reason to doubt that claim! It was a huge store.

Digger get a pic of your sword or even you weilding your sword!

Loco - I'll check that site out when I get a little more time...

Kjr2,
Here's one you won't see on any store anywhere, I made it just to see what it would look like. I'm just starting out making knives with custom handles, I'm hoping to buy some blanks from Jantz Supply, they sell kits you can make...

Of course it looks kind of cool, but I wouldn't try to cut anything with it...J.J.

I used to be very skilled with the butterfly knives.

My collection has reduced in size over the years. All I have now are some Dale Earnhardt knives and one Jr knife. Had to clean them up a little its been so long:

I don't do much collecting but I do make knives.
My old NOT updated website is http://members.tripod.com/~etzlerknives/
Its a very satisfying job. I have gotten to travel all over the country selling them and have meet many interesting people and celebrities.
I do all the work myself from forging the steel to making the knife to engraving and gold inlay.

Interesting stuff guys! We have quite a few knife fans here.

I know VERY little about knives. I just buy the ones that look cool or seem like a good deal.

Is Smith and Wesson a quality brand? I've heard of the brand before, but I don't think it was for knives.

Cause I live near Solingen (I think the most recognized city in Knife world) there is no wonder that I have collected these in the past. I still have a few but they are stored nowadays in the basement.
During the last days of my collecting times I was most into Custom Knives and back then I loved the Collectors Knives from Gil Hibben. Until the 2002 Edition ( I think it was Odyssey) I own all of his Fantasy Knives and also his throwing Kives and axes.

Kjr2,
It depends on the grade of steel the blade is made out of, and of course I'm just starting out with knives, I'm sure some of the experts can tell you which blade is the best to get. I DO know just because it says stainless steel doesn't make it a better blade, it has to be better then 420 stainless to be anything other then just a common knife. Of course if you're just going to put it on a shelf and not use it, then I guess it depends on if you like it or not. Sort of like R/C eh???...J.J.

i have two smith and wesson brand knives, the Extremem Op's and the Bulls eye.

both are very nice and come very sharp, the Extreme Op's is the one i carry around with me on a daily basis.

and the Bulls Eye is a good knife too but is a little heavy to carry around on a daily basis.

I have one knife.
My trusty traveler for boating, snorkeling, hiking, camping, hitchiking, if the world ends.

I never carry a knife daily, but this one, small, sharp, strong simple, is easy to conceal, easy to unsheath, and clips to my big waterproof pack all.

Oh that is cool. My black folding knife is the same brand. It's an M16 something or other.

What model is that fixed blade you posted?

Ok, here is a pic of most of my knives. The big one on the left has US 1912 on the blade, and the big one on the right has US 1917 on the blade. The bottom middle is an official Boy Scouts knife. I can't seem to find my trench knife, it is in a box somewhere.
