Another way to extend the wheelbase

Well I went to my Lhs the other day to get the parts I would need to extend the chassis. They didn't have the parts needed(allthread, tubing). But they did have threadable aluminum tubes, allen head screws and the tmaxx rod ends. I also got a tap. First, I cut the tubes the length I wanted. Then I tapped the tubes about a inch on each end. Then ,using a allen wrench I threaded the screws into the rod ends until they bottomed out. Next, I used a dremel and cut off the head and excess threads on the screws. Then I had a rod end with a threaded end and used the rod end to screw it into the threaded aluminum tube. For the top I just used allthread and cut a length of aluminum tubing to set the pinion angle. I used a associated nylon locknut for the end. It seems to be working well. This method would be slightly lighter depending if you want it to be. Plus it saves you from having to get all the measurements exact. The only thing you really have to be sure on is that each set of tubes are the same length. Hope this helps someone out there.

With the exception of cutting the bolt heads off, using thick-walled seamless tubing is how we build all of our aluminum 4-link bars. Using the Dubro monster-duty rod ends, we've not had a failure yet!
