Alright dudes I believe this is my seventh build thread on RCMT. What we have here is TXT-2 gearbox installed into ZRP chassis plates obviously when completed will have TXT-2 axles mounted.

Parts used so far;

# NIB TXT-2 - unicorn poo

# Metal shielded bearing set (got these from Germany) - unicorn poo

# 102 mm X bracing custom made by CPE (seven in total)


My plan;

# Use as many parts from ZRP kit that I can

# Use as many parts from TXT-2 transmission that I can

# Scale build

# Identical length wheelbase as a stock ZRP Retro Racer

Few goodies to show off got these knock off scale shocks off ebay for 26.62 dollars eight in total. Likewise RC4WD scale shocks would have cost me 120 dollars for eight.

Will be using a Clod hard body not very original but not much choice in the hard body world!

Annoyingly ZRP Retro racer is not set up for stock Clod body so had to drill 6mm mount holes front & rear. Worked out well and got position exactly where I wanted it body sits nice & low as well true retro style :cool

# Body will be sprayed black

# With PRO airbrushed neon green CLAWING DEAD text on each door

# Front grill sprayed neon green

# Custom aluminum roll bar ( stock roll bar will now not fit eagle eyes will spot this! )

# J Concepts wheels & Firestone tires will be installed hopefully they release neon green wheels soon?


Pro airbrush wont be cheap but be worth it as I cant find a decal maker that will help me out anyway.

Guys can you help TXT prop shafts are too long for this build so an ideal candidate would be Wheely King prop shafts as they are 6mm. Only issue is WK prop shafts cannot handle two 540 motors I know this from experience.

RC4WD have aluminum WK prop shaft sets but they are all out of stock. Any other makes out there that sell all metal WK prop shafts?

talking about the drive shafts right? if so you can get a set of scx10/wraith MIP shafts then order the 6mm revo ends to fit them

Yes drive shafts that link center gearbox to the axles I believe stock WK drive shafts are 70 - 90 mm's so basically I need 70 - 90 mm's.

Just priced it out not gonna be cheap around 90 for the parts and you'll have some extra stuff(the 5mm ends and axle Stubs)

These should be about 85 compressed and 100 all the way out, and they can be cut down too

But they should last forever

Not really cheap but they are strong and they should last

It's lasted 2 years so far on a 8th scale motor

Thanks for that but I will stick with stock WK shafts for now they are cheap and I wont be running the truck that much as its pretty much a shelf queen.

I think Hot Racing made an all metal set of drive shafts for the WK but getting hold of a set will be near impossible all sold out

Good morning from Buffalo New York United States. I have a question to ask about the steering system that you installed from Xtreme racing. During this process what size screws did use on the inside? As in the size of screw? I have in the same dilemma with my project. And also what size servo do use for the insulation? Standard size or did you use a small size servo?

Cool New York :cool from memory I think I used 15mm bolts don't quote me on that though. My blocks are thread less hence why I used lock nuts if your blocks are threaded just use bolts from the underside with some lock tight applied.

Servos that I used are standard size.

For anyone interested this truck is now finished I can post photos if you like although I am reluctant as I cant get the photos to appear on screen lol.
