I can't find replicas like that here in Canada. What is the penalty if you take out the orange tip of the gun? How come the handguns doesn't have one?

I see some youtube videos and they are sure can cause damage. They are so scale, you can't even tell that they are not real. Most of them doesn't have the orange tip too.

I intended to keep the orange tip on mine but it wasn't secured very well. When I removed the barrel the tip fell right off. I thought they would be more difficult to remove than that. Once I saw the gun without the tip, it looked 10 times better so off it stays. I saw a Co2 gun at dicks sporting goods in the mall and that didn't have an orange tip. I thought they were all supposed to have'em.

I have no idea about a "penalty". I guess if a cop saw the gun without the orange tip he might end up drawing his real weapon and killing you..that could be a mighty stiff penalty, lol...There might even be a fine or something associated with removal of the tip but I'm not too sure. I just use mine in back of the house. I don't play airsoft wars or anything. I could glue the tip back on if worst came to worst.

Exactly, and thats the main reason I sold the MP5 airosft I had.

4WDMT there are a number of places to get Airsoft in Canada, a lot of Paintball shops carry some, Canadian Tire sells crappy ones, buyairsoft.ca, canadianairsoft.ca, 007airsoft.com and many more.

Thanks dave. I'll check them out.

I guess that will be the penalty of taking out the orange tip. It just kinda suck, knowing you are spraying BBs while the cops are firing real bullets. :rof

I'm sure it depends on where you live but from what I've heard it's not illegal for an adult to have a BB gun out in public nor is it illegal to take the orange tip off. There are tons of them that don't even come with the little orange tip. My brother has a few of them, and it kills me that so many don't come with the orange tip and they look extremely realistic. I always tell my brother not to go running around outside with his because most people would think its the real thing and considering I live in a state that allows concealed weapons it could easily get you shot by your next door neighbor.

Personally all I have are the real thing. The one in my avatar is actually my 1911.

I've been looking into airsoft myself but its become so hard to find any in canada.
Currently i'm in paintball right, pretty similiar in sport. I love paintball and the pain, but i wanted the aunthentic look of airsoft. Soo i've mod'd my tippmann a5 into an M4 with an ARMS SIR kit.
Here's a general idea of what i had to work with before:

And here's after, currently:

Sorry if this is getting a little side tracked. I'm looking for a p90 if anyone has one for sale. ;)

I used to play paintball all the time. I had two Tippmann model 98s. One had the M-16 kit and the other had the A-5 cyclone feed. I sold them a few months ago to help pay for RC parts.

I know the people that used to sell them "under the table" in Pacific mall, but they got busted a few years back if I remember correctly. Not sure if they still sell them anymore. But man they let me check out their guns when I was at the back of their store, and they are really realistic. I remember playing with a huge sniper rifle with a scope. I don't know if the prices are like this or what, but I remember the handguns start at 1k.:willy

-Accommodate 8.4v AK Stick TYPE 7-Cell Battery without modification

is there enough info here for anyone to say yay or nay?
also, anyone know what "HOP UP System" means?
ive never used airsoft, so im not sure i wanna jump in with a $100-$200 gun.
but i do like the idea of some of these being replicas.
im also likeing the AK-47 and the Tec-9.
i even saw an ebay listing for a luger!

I don't know too much about airsoft, but I do know you don't want to be the guy running around with a $20 spring-loaded single shot pistol from wal-mart.

It's like RC, would you want to race a cheap truck against expensive ones?
Not if you wanted to keep up with everyone else and have a chance at winning.

Quality costs money.

I googled "airsoft hop up system" and found this.. http://www.theairsoftgun.net/airsoft-gun-care/airsoft-hop-up-system.php

I would say, yay.

hop up system means theres a little rubber pad in the barrel that gives the plastic airsoft BB's a backwards spin which keeps them moving through the air straighter.

I know I'm bringing back an old topic, but like Rapko above, I just had to brag about my new toy. I don't have a pic of it yet, but I will soon.

My son has been into airsoft for a little while now and to help him out, I let him borrow my Crossman Night Prowler rifle. This thing is Auto, Elec and has full and semi-auto firing. It has an adjustable hopup and a laser sight, holds around 300 rounds and fires at 325FPS. For Christmas, he got a new sniper rifle complete with a bipod and scope. Bolt action, spring powered and fires at around 450FPS. He has gotten pretty good with it, too. When we recently had a mini battle down the hallway at the track, He was way down the far end, almost out of my range and he kept sending bullets my way with awesome accuracy. Both he and I recently picked up Crossman C11 CO2 pistols as back up weapons, and they fire at 400FPS, but lack a little in the accuracy department.

So, being tired of being picked off by the sniper before I could even get close enough to get him back, I went last night to the cool stuff store in PGH by Century 3 mall. I had full intentions of getting myself a sniper rifle like my son's, but they were completely out. They had some electric rifles and some handguns, but no snipers. After looking around some more and talking with the guy behind the counter, I gathered up some pieces off the rack and he went into the back room to commence modifications.

I picked a JG M4-F Carbine. It basically looks like same as the M16A4, but with a side folding stock. I had the shop install a tightbore barrel(to improve accuracy) and an accessory rail under the foregrip, as well as an illuminated 4x scope. In an effort to maintain reliability/durability, I kept with the stock spring and 7 cell battery. Once the modifications were completed, we loaded the magazine and tested it out. Using .2g BB's, it has a muzzle velocity of 425FPS and at 30-35 feet could group shots within 3". So basically I opted for 25FPS less than my son's rifle so that I could gain FULL AUTO! We should have similar accuracy now, but he has to 0000 each shot with a bolt while I can just hold the trigger and spray BB's at a rate of 10-15 rounds per second! Once I got home I added a light mount under the foregrip with a really powerful LED tac light.

My son hasn't seen or even heard about my new gun yet. I figure I will show him first hand during a battle... He is so gonna be welted! LOL! I will get pics soon!

Yeah they are like R/C in a lot of ways. Some are better bargain than others and in general you gotta pay to play and the sky is the limit when it comes to blowing cash on upgrades. It is a cheaper hobby than R/C though.

My G36 stipped the gear on the motor and I never got around to fixing it. It's only a $12 gear at my local shop...

Hey does anyone know about the Aftermath brand of guns at Big 5 Sporting Goods? Are they good quality??? I'd bet they are rebadged (lots of rebadging goin on just like in R/C). But they are claiming really high FPS numbers on their guns. Like this one they say is 500 FPS? That's really high for a fully auto gun.

Joe - you want to get a gun with metal gears/metal gear box. There are many cheap guns that are more toy quality than hobby quality and will be broken in no time.

You can get a quality gun for ~$130 online. That's for a low priced hobby quality gun (in R/C terms it would be like a Traxxas RTR, cheap but not toy).

I got mine from www.airsoftgi.com

Here are the pics I promised.

Here's the Prowler; in rc terms it would be like a really expensive department store toy truck, better than most others in it's class, but not "hobby grade". It's semi or full auto and claims 325FPS muzzle velocity. Does have hop up, not sure about metal gears though. 300 round capacity and I added a laser sight.

Here's my new baby I just picked up last night. JG M4-F Carbine. Metal gearbox, adjustable hop up, folding stock, 300 round capacity, Semi or full auto modes with around 10-15 rounds per second firing rate. I had a tight bore barrel installed to increase accuracy, I added an illuminated scope and an accessory rail under the foregrip with a flashlight mount. After all the mods were completed, it's got a muzzle velocity of 425 FPS with .2g heavy bb's and a 3" group at 35 feet standing(I'm sure I could shrink the grouping if I were propped against a stand or prone).

This thing is just evil! LOL!
