Actually Need Some Gearing Suggestions

Alright guys, Im running a speed gems onyx 14t double in my pede at 12/87 gearing with bearings throughout and Imex Puller tires. Problem is that the truck is pretty slow, and the motor is burning hot. I know the general rule of thumb for the pede/rustler is to gear the pinion two teeth under the amount of motor turns, but I know for bigger tires you want to drop the pinion another tooth or two. Problem is you cant find much smaller 48 pitch pinions. Any ways of modding it to run a larger spur gear and different gear ratio? And what do you suggest gearing wise for it? Thanks guys!

I know you can get a 90t spur on there no mods needed. That should help a little.

Try a 15 tooth pinion, I usually run a 15 tooth with a 13 turn Kobal.

Stock size. Ive ran a ton of different gearing so I cant remember every setup so I maybe wrong lol.

15 teeth sounds about right. i have a feeling its more the motors fault than the gearing. how much timing do you have on it?

Im pretty sure its at zero for timing. You think I should run an even higher tooth pinion? Wont that make it even hotter? or are you saying run the 15 tooth pinion with the 90 tooth spur? And Pullers are much taller than the stock rubber, are you sure that would be ok?

Id try 15/87 and if it doesnt work,pinions are only like 3$ apiece. The worst that usually happens is the truck gets hot and shuts off. The puller tires arent much taller than stocks, maybe an inch at the most. Let us know how it goes.
