geez that really sucks eggs

Try swapping the servo. Has to be right, everything else is different.

Driveline has no binding right? At 8/90 you should be geared fine I would think.

I think that the servo was the culprit. Took out the nice new Futaba metal gear unit and swapped in an HPI generic guy. Has been working correctly for a few battery packs. What would cause the servo to fry receivers? I took apart the servo and found that the power wire had a loose "hair" of wire that was dangerously close to the signal wire. I bet a good jolt would let that strand come in contact with the signal circuit (white wire.) Feasable idea?

me, I usually toss a servo if it has issues. I can't stand little things causing big problems. I actually have had great luck with traxxas servos, and they';re cheap on e-pay for the 2055 steering HD unit from maxx's.

Yes, they're not super strong for a comp crawler, but for a basher they do fine turning 2.2's since they're designed for taller maxx wheels.

X2 on the 2055s.:tmb I have them in my tlts (not crawlers) and even run it in my TXT basher. I have other servos lke hitec645s ,985s, and a few of those crappy tower pro 995s but I like the 2055 cause it's cheap (I got them around $5 ea on eBay) and very responsive. I have stripped the gears on one but that's it, never an electrical problem.

Get that rig goin' and lets hit the mud, rocks, and whatever else we can find! The "Short Bus" (yellow '56) and "Will-mobile" need a playmate!

The joke's on me I guess. On the last outing, my truck failed to run (rain in the rx might have done it:bang) How's that 'Yota lid coming along? That's gonna look pretty sweet on your truck, Mr. Yota-man! We gotta hit the trails again soon!

P.S. post up some more pics when you get time, 'specially with the the new lid.
