4X4 Pro-Stock truck?

I was reading my rulebook again, and am considering building a 4X4 Pro-Stock model of a 1:1 I helped out with a little in school. The thing I want clearification on is, the book says that it must have a front and rear bumper. Would sled bumpers be considered a rear bumper? All the 1:1 has is the hitch and sled bumpers on the back. Thanks.

I was also wondering about that rule. There aren't to many 1:1 that run a factory rear bumper or front for that matter. Also do you know if you can run a tlt tire?

When I built Caden's 4Play truck I asked the same question. I asked Gene and Vince, who started the class, and they said the rules intent is to keep unrealistic bodies out of the class. I was told that if the truck resembles a 4x4 puller there is no issue. I don't see the need for the bumpers either way, but this is how it was explained to me. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the input, Darren. I guess, if I let you get by without it, not many would DQ someone for that. Truthfully, I never even noticed the lack of a rear bumper, maybe because it just looks right. On a side note, where's the driver from?

The tlt tire is a shade to big depending on the body you use. It measures about 3.6 tall and 2.12 wide. Darren I don't know if you remember or not. I am the guy that you sent some weights and pinions to in columbia mo. I had the friend that backed out on your 66 seires ih body.

Yeah, TLT's are a tad too big. About .35" too large in dia if my math is correct ('bout 50% chance of that).

Jason, On 1:1 pulling trucks the rear bumper are 12 inches high. and be 6 inches from the hitch. This is so they can hook the truck up. Not for a r/c. I say it is up to you. To make it more real. I ok. Also the real trucks have wheely whell on the front. Now that would be hard to do in the class, but on a clod it can be done with the weightbar hight.
Now that was the rule the time I was running super stock 4x4 in 1987-1995. The rules may have change from then. That was then.
I was a Pro Stock tech at the same time with Western Pa. Truck and Tractor Pullers. The bumper rule was the same as super stock with them .

I have actually started a true pro stock diesel truck class for our group here in MO. Chassis must be tamiya toureag. Tires must be tamiya bfgs or goodyear wranglers. Max weight 8lbs. Wheelbase 11 3/4 max. Furthest point from centerline front axle 6 in. 1 Econo mod down to 17 turn. 6 cell max. 2.5 in. hitch height. I came up with this class to help get pulling started around here and it also helps that is pretty cheap to build one. Here are some pics my truck is the Strokers Ace

Columbia, Mo. I really would like to see this be a nrctpa class one day. It is cheap and fun. We are getting these to pull 40lbs on dirt with an eliminator sled.

Johnny,

I do not know the rules the truck was built to, but I do know it ran at the Southern Invitational in TN this past weekend, and is supposed to be running with FPP this year. It's a 24 valve Cummins that has a P7100 IP. That thing is a real tight fit in there with the 24 valve head.

BCCrawler,

Those trucks look really good. They just need some Dodge bodies, covered in Cummins stickers. I would love to run in a class like that. Any chance you may run at the Worlds or Springs? You otta' try to get that class going. It's the dirt part I don't like. Roughly how much does it cost to put one together? If it's not too much, and you decide to persue getting the class into the NR/CTPA rule book, I'd be more than happy to help sometime.

Me and a good friend of mine are all about 1:1 pulling. We go to almost 20 pulls through out the summer. I have started on three more tractor chassis, and 2 7lbs 2wd. Between the two of us we have 2 tlt brusier class, 2 bar tire sportsman, 3 pro stock tractors, and 3 toureag. I also have an eliminator, a wedge, and mrp dragon master. We really want to come out and pull we just need to get some bugs worked out.

Yeah, I'm lucky to have taken a Vo-Tech class that is so related to pulling. One of the seniors has a 1:1 Cummins puller. Someday, when I have money, I may get into 1:1 Diesel pulling.

I have 2 Carpet Big Rigs, 1 Dirt Box Stock Clod, and the Carpet Pro-Stock that'd be sacrificed for the truck in question in this thread, and my mom has a pair of rigs also.

Any idea if any Tamiya vehicles currently in production would be an acceptable sub for the Toureag?

We just limit it to the toureag or the same chassis anyways. We decided to make this class before tamiya decided to discountinue it. If any nrctpa board member on here would like to add this class feel free. That is what I would really like to see.

Haha, there's more than "just adding the class." It has to be in exhibition for like a year, discussed at the THM, if it shows growth, it's put on the ballot, and voted on by the membership, and then...

Anyways, methinks it's outlined in the bylaws.

The bumper's are listed in the rules to prevent cutting them off in order to meet lenght restrictions! If you are righ at the maximum lengh without them, that create's the issue. No problem not having them on CUSTOM MADE BODIES. It is also there to prevent building custom bodies to gain an advantage over those using manufactured ones. You are building to replicate an actual vehicle. Darren supplies pic of the real one.
