4600 coging

Was talking to Castles rep today. He mentioned (Joe Ford that is ... great guy have know him going on 6 years now) that that latest firmware which is 3.30.3 should be downloaded. The version for the controller is 1.32.
Now the sv2 and sct are supposed to be basically the same controller. If it hasnt been done allready mke sure the controllers are reprogrammed with these updates.
I have heard of others having this issue with the sv2s and sct units but not the original sidewinder. Also some have thought that because the units were out of stock that there is problems with the unit. They said nope they just cant keep them in stock fast enough because they are selling so many. Castle has always been straight up with me so I believe them.

Bec

I got the cogging out of mine when I by passed the bec, I ran an external lipo pack with a regulator to bring it back to 6.0 volts seemed to fix the problem

I am running mamba pro 5700's, 1- 3s lipo 60 discharge rate, I have 9 castle system this is the only setup I had to do like this, the truck I did this on was the clod
See I think we are talking apples and oranges. What we are talking about is the "new" sidewinder esc. Labeled SV2 and the ones that come with the new sct sidewinder kits (basically the same esc as the Sv2).

I have no problem with my older castle sidewinder kits. I have only heard of cogging issues concerning the new Sv2, dual setup with a single lipo battery. Which for us means we have to chase down the older units, or by mamba max ect...

Eventually this will be a problem- hopefully Castle will hear our cry and address the issue. however we are a small and unique group so it's slow going. Personally I have been on the phone with three different Castle tech's and the issue has not been resolved.

I still like castle and I love my other brushless systems by them... but Houston we have a problem

Cogging

Ya I agree the new sct system is the same as sv2 they are identical I own those also, I'm going to take one for the team, I have an e savage I hooked up years ago, tomorrow I am going to put my to mamba pros in the e savage and run a battery to each system to see if the cog goes away, like I said earlier my cog went away when I ran an external bec I'm fine with that but the fact of the matter is the old systems aren't cogging.

Will post findings

When I spoke with them the other day, the e-mail I received stated I needed a battery twice the c rating and mah rating I would normally use. So a instead of a 3000 or 4000 mah and 35 c, a 6000 to 8000 mah with a 60+c would solve the problem. What do you guys seem to think?

Cogging

This cogging deal is so weird I have 2 clods dual brushless mamba pros and the basic mamba system in other clod, I run as low 20c burst with no cogging one truck does have a separate bec the other one doesn't the cogging usually is a big indication of the battery, but it could as be to much time, to much punch, your throttle curve could be to aggressive many things could cause this, the technology has come so far where a little to much hear or there could cause it. My buddies run dual brushless also and they have no cogging we run the venom 3s with 20 c burst mainly. Try the battery you have and back all the power out of the system if it runs with no cogging and if runs good then put power in it if it starts to cog then you don't have enough burst rate in the battery.

He has the SV2 escs, as stated in post #9 of this thread. That is why I posted to like to Joe's thread on how to set it up.
