One is the old emaxx, that was 2 speed,
then you have the new style like comes in the traxxas summit or brushless e-revo set up for One motor,
then you have the new tranny just like the other except it is set-up for 2 motors. Like the regular brushed e-revo.
The summit trans is 2 speed as well,
and if you end up with the 2 motor trans, that was 1 speed, parts are available to make it 2 speed.

Beside the 2 speed, the only real difference in the newest style tranny's is the motor plates, spur gear cover.

Edit* Looking at them again both of the new ones look to have the 2 speed.

:shk WOW :shk I am so use to my clod over the year's. I wanted to get my self the Traxxas E-Maxx or Stampede VXL,but I know for a fact if I ever post some pic's over at CT. Halgar one of the forums Administrators would let me have it:laugh
But all jokes aside, what transmission would you get and what are the pro's and con's between the Stampede VXL and the brushed or brush-less E-Maxx? And if I called Tower, would they help me on finding the parts that would go into the transmission? And I already know the answer to that question.

The older style Emaxx trans is the easiest to mount plus it's a 2 speed. The newer style transmissions a stronger but harder to mount(you have to make your own mounts). I prefer the newer style transmission with the E-Revo brushless single motor configuratin because it is the most compact.

Are you asking about the Stampede VXL and Emaxx trucks or transmissions? The Stampede is a totally different truck with a totally differnet transmission. As a truck it a great basher, a little overpowered and because it's only 2 wheel drive, difficult to handle on loose surfaces like dirt. Forget the Emaxx get an E-revo, you'll be happier.

:shk Yea,I seen that on your truck. :shk \:D/ I am getting chills up and down my spine \:D/ But I did seen this on youtube, :shk :shk OMG :shk :shk Does the transmission does this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_biClu6AlU

:conf Let me ask you this HawnMT or any member who is reading this. Are you talking about this truck's transmission within this link? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWGD0**&P=ML

Because I did read that the transmission is a one speed with low CG, oversized steel idler gear. Is that the right one? :conf
Yes, that's the one. It's exactly like the one in the center of the three transmissions in the pics above except that one has the the two speed gears in it. You can tell because it has the the little silver coil spring shifter on the side and so does the one on the right. The one in my CAT truck IS an E-Revo brushless transmission, single speed and all.

I was wondering if that one speed transmission work? And does it change gears or stay in the first gear?Cause I am new to the txt-1,but not new within this hobby. But im willing to learn.

For brushless motors the single speed us pretty much all you need. The single speed is the high gear set(2nd gear) not the low(1st gear). Also when you have the two speed there's a lot of slop in the transmission so the gears can engaged and disengage on the fly. In the single speed you don't have that slop.
